I hope your day gets better!
@kidronnie Be the butterfly effect you want to see in the world
Are those of you here in the #Fediverse aware of the amazing resource that is https://mynoise.net?
No?
Let me introduce you.
It has a medieval village #background #noise environment with toggles you can use to increase or decrease the blacksmith shop and market and horse clops (among many others).
Oh, you want a coffee shop? Sure thing.
Rain? Thunderstorm? Gotcha.
Generic white noise?
RPG thrills? Of course.
Tame that #tinnitus? Yes!
Check it out!
Hello! We've been lurking for the last few weeks but figured a massive Friday post-lunch toot would be a good way to test the waters and see how many friends we have here!
We are Scotland's Archaeology Strategy and we are a sector wide initiative to make archaeology matter to everyone. We publish a vibrant magazine each year called Celebrating Archaeology in Scotland which highlights all the work done to meet the Strategy Aims - check out past issues here http://archaeologystrategy.scot/magazine-back-issues/
A few weeks ago, I saw perfect ripples forming in the clear warm waters of the Red Sea. Last week I saw their geological equivalent at the @LapworthMuseum.
I touched the rock just to feel the warmth of the sun again, to feel the water lapping against my skin.
Happy #FossilFriday 😊

@CburgesCliff Ha! But bad choices are learning experiences, too…

Okay, not the stunning imagery I was hoping for/imagining as results from last night's frigid #mars session! I'll not go into the numerous reasons the results are disappointing -- no excuses -- but it boils down to needing more time experimenting with the telescope gear! At least some surface markings can be seen as well as an impressive polar ice cap. #astronomy #astrophotography
The admin for this instance (mstdn.ca) is a dude in Edmonton named @chad. He’s pulling 18+ hour days keeping up with the great migration. Chad just shared that he’s getting angry DMs about slowness and 500 Errors at 2am. Can we please show him some love? (PayPal is one way, if you are able.)
@ottaross @lovemakeshare Had one this evening! Also, muffuletta makes an amazing topping (after you let the oil drain 😄)
Right where my foot is there is over a billion years missing in the rock record (an unconformity) between the Tapeats and the Zoraster. It was named the Great Unconformity by John Wesley Powell, and yes, you need to capitalize it.
At Frenchman's Stop in the Frenchman Mountains outside of Las Vegas, and also at the bottom of the Grand Canyon.

@Pinging @Geotripper Thank you!
@NikaShilobod Kind of sounds like what I was doing – But with an old modem that kept me wondering if some random little circuit was failing… Got it going in the end. 😊
Sorry, @CHEO@twitter.com - we did all we could. Can’t do more as a Trustee. Can’t do more as a family doc. The children are not OK, and the grownups are reading from a “freedom” playbook. This is not a good time to be a person with disabilities, child, parent, senior, educator, HCW. #WeNotMe
Retired Chem/Physics/Earth Sciences teacher. I'm interested in everything.
I like a good debate that introduces me to other perspectives. I don't waste much time with people who devolve to name-calling or insults, aside to call them out on it.
I think society performs at its best when we take care of others, especially the weakest among us. That means a strong social safety net, with "free" healthcare, education, and public transit. It's a dream, I know.
30+ years of explaining stuff to teenagers has left me with some habits... I'm not a mansplainer, but I *do* like to find ways to 'splain stuff to receptive ears 😊
I like dogs, cats, and astronomy pictures with a bias towards the shorter wavelengths (kinda leaves out all those lovely Hα pics 😄).
The first thing I look at when shopping for cars is headroom/legroom. Saves a lot of time.
