Atheist; loathe almost all religions and pity the people deluded enough to follow them. I make exceptions for Buddhism as it isn't really a religion in the strictest sense of the word as it doesn't postulate the existence of any god, and Jainism which is the epitome of peace.
For anyone who is interested, my header photo is of the most stupendous sunset I have ever seen. On the right is the waterfront of Vientiane, the capital of Laos, on the left is Thailand and in the middle, acting as the border between the two countries is the mighty Mekong river.

My 'alma mater' owned a huge chunk of the town of Eastbourne. It doesn't bear thinking about the amount of money that the town is losing in income due to the charitable status rules on educational establishments. I'd screw them for every last penny!
I'm delighted that they have done this!
...and no it isn't sour grapes at all - I was privately educated myself!
To me the whole idea of a separate privileged educational system for the very well heeled is unspeakablly unjust!

Yes, if you look at the figures, the US economy grows apace under Democrat administrations and hits the rocks the moment the Republicans are elected. Somehow the extreme right wing who dominate the media in the USA and elsewhere lie through their back teeth about this and manage to convince the average American voter that black is white!

The average US male appears to have an absolutely prehistoric attitude to women verging on the thoroughly disgusting!
I suspect that is why Trump is unaccountably popular even though he has been ajudged as a rapist and guilty of serious sexual assaults, not to mention a convicted fraudster! Those are activities that the average American Joe regards as aspirational!

I remember the Yom Kippur war in 1973; my father was the Norwegian ambassador to Israel at the time, and he and I were taking the dog for a walk. When we crossed the main highway from Tel Aviv to Haifa there was a convoy of military vehicles heading north, and he stopped, then said we had to go home.
Also, around that time, there was an increase in military presense around us. I learned later that was because Mossad agents had been arrested in Norway for killing an innocent Palestinian in Lillehammer who they thought was a PLO agent. Extremist settlers in Israel had made a credible threat to kidnap the Norwegian ambassador and his children (my sister and me) in order to force Norway to release the agents.
