Palliative care dog
@NatureMC sorry
In 1950, the annual harvest of seaweed in Orkney and Shetland increased by 400%. Why?
ORCADIAN CHERRIES or CHELLIES were synthetic cocktail cherries made from seaweed and were produced from 1949 onwards. Most went to cocktail bars in the USA.
If we are heading toward an ecological collapse sooner than predicted, when are people gonna just rise up and tear down the companies killing us and polluting the earth for short-term profits? Isn't the time now?
Like, we're in for a world of hurt.
Parable of the Sower is becoming our reality and as much as I adore Octavia Butler, this is not the future I wanted.
I wanted a solarpunk future of mutual aid and library economy. Not fucking billionaires killing us all as they fight one another in cage fights for fun. Ugh.
@mathyourlife not an expert but I think the near joints look really good!

On point.
The cure for petrol-fueled, car-centric development isn’t EVs. It’s to pivot to non-car-centric alternatives. This needs to be shouted from every rooftop, and demanded of every politician.
Cars are the most expensive and wasteful option.
None of the powerful leaders who helped block the Fordham Road busway in the Bronx live in the Bronx.
Most live in the suburbs.
Some have incomes that are 20x the average Bronx bus rider. One apparently has a personal driver.

Ever since I started actually reading all the studies right wingers and other fucking imbeciles cough up when pressed (or just voluntarily because they underestimate my willingness to read) I'm just becoming more and more radicalized leftwards
To date, none of these fucking things have held water, and in fact many of them prove *my point* because these motherfuckers don't even bother double checking their source supports what they're saying (they found it on google after I asked for it)
Remember how jaywalking was invented by car companies to avoid having to address their safety problems? Public space was taken away from pedestrians and reserved for corporate interests by the law. There's already talk of how laws that protect pedestrians are inconvenient for self-driving cars.
Recently, gig companies like Uber and Lyft spent tens of millions of dollars to push through laws that allow them to better exploit workers.
What new laws are self-driving car companies going to introduce? What do you take for granted today that will be criminalized tomorrow?
