You folks were super enthusiastic about my posting more on Mastodon, so let's try this.
RT/boost and let's see if there's interest in a regular #Ukraine thread!
Kyiv remains in Ukrainian hands.
For the last year, I've been tracking a notorious Russian unit known for its role in killing 100s of civilians.
This past month we published how we found them.

And for too many people reading that headline, it won’t even register that the New York Times called a perpetrator of hate crimes an “activist”. https://twitter.com/leenathearian/status/1644401058431549440
Speaking as an anesthesiologist that's spent more time in labor and delivery than most non-obstetricians will spend in their lifetimes, I cannot stress this enough: innocent people will die if mifepristone is outlawed. And it won't be in a few weeks or months— it will happen within hours. Judges should not be practicing medicine. Full stop.
The New York Times is in a newsroom panic over the Trump charges -- "Democracy is Tested" !!! and other such bullshit.
There's a test happening at the Times and the rest of Big Journalism, all right: whether "news" organizations can bring themselves to do their jobs properly, which includes taking a stand to help save democracy.
The Times' panic is reflection of its ongoing failure -- going back decades in the case of Trump, long an obvious crook -- to meet that test.
America, however, is not a functioning democracy, as severe anti-majoritarian distortions and a deeply unhealthy political culture conspire to give disproportional power to a radicalizing minority devoted to a reactionary cause. Until that changes, nothing changes. 18/
even better idea:
modding a CGA card so that it can provide line21 captions when used in composite mode
Meanwhile, in battery news...
Researchers at Vienna University of Technology (TU Wien) have developed an oxygen-ion battery with a storage capacity that doesn't decrease over time, leading to an extremely long lifespan compared to other batteries.
This battery can be produced without rare metals and could be used for in large energy storage systems, e.g., to store electrical energy from renewable sources.

Hilarious to me that the same people who think they are going to "disrupt" our economy with incredible new tech advances can't run something as basic as a bank, which is an ancient business where people literally just hand you money lol
...Or that a school district could get sued if a 3rd grade classroom even learns that LGBTQ people exist.
THIS kind of sh!t is why neo-fascism is finding such a cozy home in america. I wouldn't say that I expect better of corporate media, just sick of the laziness & the ineptitude.
*in fact- this WAS written by #desantis. Taken directly from the bill, without any discussion of how incredibly (and purposefully) nebulous the wording is, OR the chilling effect it would have on ALL educators.(2/2)
