@sciencebase Even Buxton isn't really though there are many plants which we see here in Lincs which never show there. Even though it's always raining and feels freezing.
@sciencebase Whenever I see distribution maps, there is a clear effect of latitude but I never see height affecting it much. It does with plants tho. That's rather odd to me.
@sciencebase I think we had a Yellow Line Quaker by outside light just now. Gone before I even tried to take a pic. I gather they are quite common but I never heard of it before I Googled for poss ID.

Today I had the opportunity to see a visitor far from home, a tiny snow bunting from the arctic, well out of range in Seattle.
It was completely unafraid of people; I wonder if it had even seen humans before.

Its going to be MUCH MORE EXPENSIVE, and deadly, if we don't build all the renewables we need now, to END carbon fuels.

A paradox. The US economy has grown and added jobs at record rates throughout the Biden administration. Wages are rising and inflation is down to 2.4%. The economy is outperforming most of the world.
Yet most Americans think the economy is in poor shape. Mistakenly, they think it was better under Trump.

@sciencebase Using cation analysis and assuming the usual oxide types are there is limited cos their melting point is often important.
@sciencebase You can get WDS on the SEM now, I'm told. Helpful for oxide inclusions in the steel as it avoids having to dissolve the lot and use XRD on what's left.
@sciencebase Relate thing: Do you know why wavelength dispersive analysis works with low atomic number elements like C and O, but energy disp doesn't (as in what we get in an SEM)? Grateful for ant ref you have about it.
