It is annoys me to hear people like @PJTheEconomist from the @TheIFS saying there are big financial constraints on government right now when the only constraints are people not being allowed to work to their full potential and the planet itself. He gets economics so wrong.

When Churchill was asked to cut funding to the arts in order to support the war effort in World War II, he responded “Then what would we be fighting for?” an apocryphal quote but when Ukrainian forces retook Kherson the people and the soldiers gathered together to sing and dance in celebration.
These images of Banksy's work also reflect how important culture is not just to Ukraine but to the civilised world. It's our turn to protect it from the marauders at the gate.

The economy is shrinking because of falls in consumer spending. Soon it will be because of increasing interest rates. Straight after that it will be because of austerity and tax increases. This is the first time we will have ever had a deliberate government manufactured recession
