Hello, pachyderms. On 10th June, I'm doing a walking marathon in the Lake District for Alzheimer's Society. I've raised £708 so far - thank you if you have already donated. But I'd really like to raise £2,600, which is £100 per mile. Can we do this together? justgiving.com/fundraising/fra

I wish they hadn’t been so high up 🥺 but I just love the crow shapes! A ground squirrel squealed an alert and the crows jumped into action.

I spoke recently with Ali Velshi on the #VelshiBannedBookClub on MSNBC about my graphic memoir, “They Called Us Enemy.”

History is so important. It should not be hidden or whitewashed. #LetThemLearn

„The coronavirus is no longer a trend. Conspiracy theorists and deniers who used to talk about that are now spreading disinformation about climate change,"
… and threaten meteorologists for engineering weather reports 😳

Aitzkoa, medical doctor and biomedical researcher from @ScientistRebellion Sweden was arrested for sitting on the road, protesting against the criminal inaction of global leaders in the ongoing climate and ecological crisis.

We are in a #ClimateEmergency and governments are choosing to act by arresting scientists. 7/n

This news is not from the Wild West, but from Spain, European Union:
In the times of severe drought which would not be possible without anthropogenic climate change, dozens of people are arrested for being involved in schemes using water from illegal wells to grow subtropical fruit that supply our supermarkets.
Is this part of a climate change adaptation plan?

@helenczerski I gotta repost #NotJustBikes @notjustbikes excellent video. m.youtube.com/watch?v=jN7mSXMr

What must come hand in hand is infrastructure and regulations that are friendly for smaller vehicles. The large dangerous trucks should be heavily taxed to discourage their use, not get subsidies. This unfortunately isn't the case in many places of the world.

When the majority of drivers choose to drive ridiculously large vehicles it also forces others to get larger ones just for their own safety. Even if they would otherwise drive smaller vehicles.

It's sadly a terrible negative feedback loop. I could go on but it's already perfectly summarized in NJB video.

The GOP wants to raise the age limit to vote, but not to own an AR-15.

Think about that.

Why the dropping of the REUL sunset clause may be very bad news for Rejoiners

Rejoiners may be tempted to gloat, but they should be concerned instead

lawandlore.substack.com/p/why-

Remainers should not be self-congratulatory about the REUL sunset being dropped.

Indeed, Remainers should perhaps be concerned.

For it means Brexiter silly season is ending - and the government is now getting real, and realistic, about divergence.

The German Weather Service reports only slightly warmer (+0.1 K) temperature in Germany than the long-term April mean for 1961-1990.
dwd.de/DE/leistungen/zeitreihe

We had what used to be a rather typical German April. Yet, for many, April 2023 felt like a relatively cool month.

"This shows that we are now used to climate change in terms of temperatures" - a somber observation by the Deutscher Wetterdienst.

Everyone got the memo that we're supposed to reduce our emissions by half in 7 years, right?

‘A sea of misinformation’: U.S. Government to address industry greenwashing complaints.

As consumers turn to renewable and recyclable products, protests over industry’s use of misleading terms have proliferated.

Essex Uni has PhD scholarships aimed at increasing inclusivity in research. The University says “We would particularly welcome applications from the applicants with any of the protected characteristics under the Equality Act 2010 or those who may find themselves in the position of underrepresentation and vulnerability, e.g. refugees, with relevant permissions to study in the UK.”
Link to info here - this is a Uni-wide scheme - but that means law and human rights included
