There's been far less response to my inquiry about tactile researchers here - but I'll try via

I’m feeling concerned that many of us have recently joined #Mastodon and that the long term visually impaired community are now inundated with beautiful photos with no #alttext to describe the photo. Only about 1 in 5 Toots describe photos on my timeline. We all need to curb our enthusiasm to share undescribed photos and embrace our descriptive writing. I’m not on my high horse just concerned that we’ve arrived en masse and need to do our very best to embrace #MastodonCulture.

*Psychology Repository Update*

kaitclark.github.io/mastodon-p

We've just crossed the 500 mark and now have 502 people on the Psychologists on Mastodon list!

Thanks to everyone who has contributed so far. With so many new people having joined, you may want to review the updated list and see if you want to follow the new people.

To be added complete this form: go.uwe.ac.uk/psychmastodon

I update the list on at least a weekly basis. You can also let me know directly if you need your details updated.

Made it back after an excellent , took charge of kids from babysitter (@YonatanStrAmit also on the road), partly dealt with my inbox, and now the final question: when will I discover I got Covid?

As someone who regularly uses screen readers and works with blind colleagues who rely on screen readers to access the internet, please let me assure you that using #hashtags within the body of a post is not a problem.

You don’t need to move them to the end!

It is helpful to use #CamelCase to avoid gibberish for many word combos, but the extra # is so minimal as to disappear given how much else screen readers say & how fast they speak to experienced users.

RT @derdikman
The Derdikman lab (derdiklab.technion.ac.il/) is hiring excellent postdoc fellows and graduate students, for a project on deciphering the brain's code for territoriality, using ERC Synergy money. Send your CV, course transcripts, and thesis to derdik@technion.ac.il. Please share.

Also: if you're looking for a position exploring individual differences in plasticity in blindness, come find me!

new preprint from our lab:

Dynamic spatial coding in parietal cortex mediates hand movement planning towards touch

by former PhD student Janina Klautke (Brandes)
and postdoc Celia Foster

participants pointed to/away from tactile stimuli on (un)crossed feet (=pro/anti task). We find anatomical and spatial stimulus coding, pro/anti rule, and motor goal location in posterior parietal cortex. Spatial coding changes over the trial.
