Example obviously exaggerated but if you don't consciously allow yourself to be influenced by the media you consume, what do you hope to gain from it apart from a brief bout of escapism?
Also, we (as in younger and/or nerdy people) used those messengers first and therefore established a protocol which you now choose to break after adapting the technology. So don't give me that "But it's rude" crap
What is it with old people who start and end every conversation on instant messengers like a letter or email?
Yes, there is some protocol involved in starting and ending a conversation but we probably did that the first time. So can't we just drop that stuff and get to the point? Also, nobody below 30 does that stuff so learn to read the room.

You know what really grinds my gears?
People who recognize a problem, see a way to fix it (often with minimal effort) and then... just don't do it?!?!?
For example, short form content: People know it's bad for them, joke about being TikTok addicted and having a decreased attention span and then just continue using it? You know, not doing stuff is pretty easy. And once you're at the point where you seriously notice symptoms of addiction, you should probably take some more drastic measures
