I will be on strike again tomorrow #ucurising
I'm striking today as part of #UCURising because our pensions have been unfairly cut, pay hasn't kept up with inflation, and to fight casualisation and discrimination.
My wife is also on strike as an #NEU teacher.
And solidarity with the nurses, train drivers, posties, amazon workers(!) and everyone else currently in dispute.
This isn't OK!
I'm laughing as I think of the tories coming into power in 2010 talking about Broken Britain. I didn't realise it was an ambition rather than a complaint!
On UCU strike days, I'm usually working, but observing the digital picket in solidarity. Today, however, I'm looking after the children as their teachers are also on strike. So, all going well in Blighty.
#ucuRISING
Cheers to all my pals and former colleagues on strike today fighting for fairness in pay, pensions and conditions in UK Universities ✊✊🏼✊🏿 #UCUStrike #UCURising
I am striking (again) today, in 2023, when we were striking for the same reasons in 2018.
But this time feels different. We are surrounded by other striking workers. The public are on our side. Enough is enough.
Stay positive, stay strong. Together we will win!! ✊🏽
⚖️ "Something is fundamentally wrong with our justice system"
Baroness @RosieBoycott@twitter.com and other members of the House of Lords expressed deep concern around arrests of journalists at peaceful #JustStopOil actions, while debating the Public Order Bill.
@TheGuardian_uk Poverty and austerity are among the social determinants of health that make the UK sicker than other wealthy nations. When NHS critics complain about poor “outcomes,” understand that poor health outcomes are largely results of broader social conditions rather than problems with the NHS model.
And of course, as striking nurses proclaim, underfunding / understaffing undermine NHS capacity, endangering patients and worsening outcomes.

RT @NEON_UK: The anger I have about my child's scan being delayed is directed at the government, not the nurses. I was out there clapping every week but claps don't pay the bills. Compassion & a sense of duty can't pay the bills.

When you’re so rich that you think nobody can touch you for your abhorrent behavior. What do you do?
You double down, endangering the life of an 81 year old doctor who has dedicated his entire career in service the American people.
This isn’t politics it’s political squid games. Every American should express their disgust at this complicit act of disregard for Dr Fauci’s safety.
Musk is no more than a cowardly thug, in service of a cancer at the heart of Republican politics.
