Awesome Collection of references, mainly related to . Some of the texts can be found inside the of the and, as one might imagine, there are gems that are worth reading. I specially recommend the Axiomatic Basis for by and The next 700 programming languages by Landin.

I built this tool a year ago but I feel like Mastodon folks would like it

The "Weird Old Book Finder"

Type in a search query, and it'll find one randomly-chosen public-domain book that matches the query -- and present it for immediate reading: weirdoldbookfinder.net/

Why only one book? To prevent the paradox of choice! Just *start readin'*

Can't promise every book will be weird, but most are

A longer essay on how/why I developed it: debugger.medium.com/a-search-e

他没说他在哪,问你是不是LI YANG(因为前一天意大利报纸把我的名字写错了)

Never forget, multimodal streets (aka “complete streets”) are simply more efficient, because they move, hold & serve more PEOPLE within the same space. Whether you think streets are just for moving people, or are for a LOT more, they’re just better. Via @NACTO.

I was looking for some last harebell (Campanula rotundifolia) #flowers and found these harebell flower remains instead. They look so beautiful and delicate, with the outlines enhanced by the #frost.

An article that gets beyond fears of "cheating" to an issue that may be more foundational: which is that, if language models do succeed in leveling writing skills upward, they will erase a huge amount of social capital. It seems possible that's what really disturbs us. theatlantic.com/technology/arc

I was recently made aware of the existence of the #mushtodon hashtag, so here's a nice bunch I found in a forest near where I live in Quebec, Canada. Any identification guesses?

With all of the horrible things happening in the world, it’s nice to find the wins. Especially in the area of our environment. A group called Coral Guardian is restoring coral reefs, and it’s quite magnificent. More wins like this, please.

I picked up this Tyrannosaurus Rex foot claw cast from UK maker Jim Francis, based on an adult specimen excavated from Hell Creek Formation in South Dakota. It's 😍 and the weight and size gives an amazing idea of the size and power of this Dino! 🦖 #FossilFriday
