Sorry, but whoever doesn't consider European night trains the pinnacle of civilized long-distance travel, I can't help you.

This ÖBB NightJet is spectacular.

In case you're wondering, yes, the price of the single cabin (with your own bathroom!) is cheaper than hotel + flight.

Yes, it's *much* more pleasant, productive & efficient! (And yeah, I'm talking United 1K treatment flight.)

Trump being given super luxury Boeing 747-8 jumbo jet "the flying palace" from Qatar royal family to use as Air Force One -- when he leaves office his library keeps it

The Constitution prohibits any U.S. government official accepting gifts "from any King, Prince or foreign State." The transfer of the plane to the Trump presidential library is an attempt to get around this.

And of course, the security implications of using a plane provided by a foreign power are enormous.

Expect lots of fun in courts on this one.

Today, we spent 2 hours launching a new project with @esa to combine satellite datasets of ice in the Polar regions, with regional climate model outputs to better understand uncertainties on ice sheet mass budget + sea level rise.
We don't plan to use any US datasets for this and this evening I learn it's just as well as NSIDC + NOAA are moving more datasets to "basic". But how heartbreaking
As @ZLabe says, we need people to make a fuss about these cuts or they'll become permanent.
And still the ice will melt and the climate will warm...

ZLabe - This is horrible. I don't even know what to say. Some of our most key polar data.

"As a result, the level of services for affected products below will be reduced to Basic—meaning they will remain accessible but may not be actively maintained, updated, or fully supported."
