I don’t expect end-to-end encryption on extremely large group chats, and I understand that’s how a lot of people use Telegram. But not having it on by default in 2023 for 1:1 and small groups, that just seems malicious.

Telegram having weak/non-default E2E encryption made a little sense five years ago, but at this point it’s a pretty opinionated and purposeful decision.
