"infinite" - applications expand to consume the energy available.

James Blish anticipated this sudden official interest in reactionless thrust in his novel, "Welcome to Mars".

It all boils down to what you mean by "free". Petroleum is "free" energy, just waiting to be harvested from the rocks. But there are catches, and probably a limited supply.
Tesla towers harvested low frequency oscillations of Earth's magnetic field. Not something you want to drain. "Space elevators" harvest Earth's rotational momentum for cheap (per launch) entry into space. But slowing rotation is not to be taken lightly.
Any source of "free" energy follows the same mathematical principle. Something is rearranged in the universe, increasing total entropy.
Not widely peer reviewed, but people built devices using Davis Mechanics: F = ma + Da' where D is the Davis constant and a' is change in acceleration. This also describes high a' events like heavy metal munitions striking a hardened target like a tank.
@PNS I watched that live as a kid.
@PNS No different than Americans fleeing from Blue City hell holes to a Red city - only to bring the same stupidity that destroyed their former home. Ditto entire states.
"Don't California my Texas"
Hiya everyone! Have you ever considered contributing to an #OpenSource project like #Pidgin but didn't know how to get started? We have some documentation on just that topic on our website! https://pidgin.im/development/contributing/
We're asking because we could use some help catching up on code reviews! It's a great way to start learning how the code base works and best of all anyone familiar with programming can help!
If you're interested you can find our open code reviews here https://reviews.imfreedom.org/r/?show-closed=0
@truthbait Are you suggesting the USA needs a great spiritual awakening???
@PNS I'm with the chick on this one. At least she has a plan with a possibility of working. She's right about the psyche drugs.
The better plan, though, is to turn her life over to Jesus Christ.
@truthbait Jordan wont accept them.
@PNS It was called "home economics" - and was phased out just as I entered high school. Other content, "Sum of the wattage of connected appliances should not exceed the rated wattage of the outlet/circuit."
Also: "Do not mix bleach and ammonia."
@PNS This is similar to what Elon Musk proposed between LAX and SFO - reducing the commute to 20min.
Elon's design was quite fail safe. Instead of maglev, the tubes had a rarefied atmosphere, the cars rode on a cushion of air. Loss of (partial) vacuum would brake the cars by simple physics. Emergency exits at regular intervals, etc, etc
@PNS Back when whites were a privileged minority in the majority black South - this is how the "Gone with the Wind" types behaved. In "Black Rednecks and White Liberals" Thomas Sowell suggests that black slaves learned it from their masters.

@PNS Article should put "her" in scare quotes.
There's been a lot of negativity around #Matrix and #Element recently. And I (somewhat) joined in and expressed my frustration with it every now and then. Something I still appreciate around #Matrix is the fact, that they listen to (most of) the criticism and acknowledge (many of) their problems. There's a nice self-critical video addressing all of this recent criticism: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OyuqM7RbX5E

@poastoak Banned glyphosate poisoned grains and other nasties from US.
@truthbait Egypt doesn't want them either. How would you compensate Egypt for allowing them in?
