Oh how I miss working in datacenters regularly. Luckily I still get the chance every now and then.
Prepped a new cabinet for @almalinux last Friday thanks to a generous sponsorship by KnownHost featuring network hardware from Arista Networks.
Can't wait to fill this thing up with hardware over the next few weeks including the awesome stack of Power9 PPC hardware that was donated recently.
Found on Telegram.
"Brian keeps doing good work...he is right far more often than not....he often emphasizes that... a propaganda message is published, pushed to all Western controlled media, & only redacted &/or corrected once everyone forgot about it....Russian drone hitting a house in Poland is a great example. Vast majority of people.. think Russia attacked Poland, where in fact, that never happened. It's the first impression that matters, perception management."

My takeaway from the NPM mess is thus: languages should not shy away from large stdlibs.
I know they're incredibly expensive to maintain. But languages without usable built-in string processing, HTTP, or TLS implementations are setting themselves up for failure.
Rust is not as bad as JS, but it still makes me wary. Go's slow but steady adoption of "everyone-uses-them" third party libraries is a real boon. (And Python is sitting in a corner laughing at the rest).
@regehr @steve To wit: virtual memory is a lie, by design. Uniform memory is a lie. Shared instruction/data memory is a lie. Coherent caches are a lie, caches would rather be _anything_ else. Buses are a lie. Memory-mapped IO is IO lying about being memory. Oh and the data bits and wires are small and shitty enough now that they started lying too and everything is slowly creeping towards ECCing all the things
The European Commission has issued a survey on the Governance and Sustainability of Critical Open Source Software.
The survey hopes to identify "pathways for collective efforts" and make "actionable recommendations for public administrations".
It's a relatively short survey, takes max 15 minutes & provides lots of opportunities to rate FOSS as 'very important' 😛

Hiya everyone! Have you ever considered contributing to an #OpenSource project like #Pidgin but didn't know how to get started? We have some documentation on just that topic on our website! https://pidgin.im/development/contributing/
We're asking because we could use some help catching up on code reviews! It's a great way to start learning how the code base works and best of all anyone familiar with programming can help!
If you're interested you can find our open code reviews here https://reviews.imfreedom.org/r/?show-closed=0
@truthbait Are you suggesting the USA needs a great spiritual awakening???

There's been a lot of negativity around #Matrix and #Element recently. And I (somewhat) joined in and expressed my frustration with it every now and then. Something I still appreciate around #Matrix is the fact, that they listen to (most of) the criticism and acknowledge (many of) their problems. There's a nice self-critical video addressing all of this recent criticism: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OyuqM7RbX5E

"As the weeds are collected and burned in the fire, so will it be at the end of the age. The Son of Man will send out His angels, and they will weed out of His kingdom every cause of sin and all who practice lawlessness. And they will throw them into the fiery furnace, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth. Matthew 13:40-42
Solar charged/battery power meshtastic node is finally up.
Changed to RAK4631 that uses one tenth the power of the Heltec V3 that I was using originally. Also went with two 18650 batteries in parallel that are charged by solar panel.
RAK4631: Most common WisBlock Core used for Meshtastic.
Microcontroller: Nordic nRF52840 (BLE + Cortex-M4)
LoRa Chip: Semtech SX1262
Connectivity: BLE, USB, LoRa
Power: Ultra-low power consumption

A few months ago, the media went hysterical about how two unvaccinated girls died from measles. What they didn't mention was both girls died from gross medical errors which are becoming and more common.
Here I show what really happened.
