The agreement between Facebook and the FTC, as announced last week , includes a record-setting $5 billion fine and mandates changes to Facebook's reporting structure and oversight for privacy-related matters.

Nigerian troops kill 20 supporters of Sheikh Zakzaky
Nigerian security forces have killed at least 20 members of the Islamic Movement of Nigeria (IMN) during protests calling for the release of senior cleric Sheikh Ibrahim Zakzaky, the movement’s leader, this week.
Spokesmen for the IMN said on Friday clashes that erupted between police forces and protesters in the capital, Abuja, this week left at least 20 people dead.
One spokesman said the death toll may be as high as 25.
IMN members regularly take to the streets of the Nigerian capital to call for the release of Sheikh Zakzaky, their leader, who has been in detention since 2015.

Amnesty International yesterday slammed Israeli authorities for the mass demolition of Palestinian homes in Sur Baher, and urged the international community to take action.
Israeli forces carried out a longstanding military-issued demolition order yesterday morning, targeting a number of buildings in the community that lies in both the occupied West Bank and East Jerusalem. Dozens of residential apartments were destroyed.
In its statement, the global human rights organisation pulled no punches in condemning the home demolitions.
“These demolitions are a flagrant violation of international law and part of a systematic pattern by the Israeli authorities’ to forcibly displace Palestinians in the occupied territories,” said Saleh Higazi, deputy Middle East and North Africa director for Amnesty International.
“Such actions amount to war crimes,” the Amnesty official added.

Occupied Jerusalem (QNN)- The Israeli police on Wednesday emptied a building owned by Siam Family in occupied Jerusalem and handed it over to Jewish settlers following an Israeli court decision issued last month.
Local sources said that dozens of Israeli policemen and settlers broke into the building, located in Silwan, this morning. The building consists of a big house with a store and additional land. The settlers and Israeli police started emptying the house of the family’s properties following assaults against the family members and the arrest of one of them.
The Israeli police closed the entrance of the neighborhood and prevented locals and journalists from entering or covering the incident.
