Why Hamilton isn’t finished with F1 yet
Just trying out the CW feature. I think. In case nobody is interested in F1.
Brilliant sprint race today! I didn’t think I’d ever say that.

The thing about Twitter is that it really lacks a lot of the features you'd expect from a true Mastodon replacement.
For example, there's no way to edit your toots (which they, confusingly call "tweets"—let's face it, it's a bit of a silly name that's difficult to take seriously).
"Tweets" can't be covered by a content warning. There's no way to let the poster know you like their tweet without also sharing it, and no bookmark feature.
There's no way to set up your own instance, and you're basically stuck on a single instance of Twitter. That means there's no community moderators you can reach out to to quickly resolve issues. Also, you can't de-federate instances with a lot of problematic content.
It also doesn't Integrate with other fediverse platforms, and I couldn't find the option to turn the ads off.
Really, Twitter has made a good start, but it will need to add a lot of additional features before it gets to the point where it becomes a true Mastodon replacement for most users.
I’ve been busy last few days so haven’t explored Mastodon properly. Sorry if I haven’t yet replied to comments or followed back - but I will! First impressions are that it’s a much kinder, less toxic site than the other place.
The petulant, narcissistic manchild appears to have destroyed Twitter, which is really sad. It’s a relief and very comforting therefore, that I can see so many Twitter friends have made the move over.
Love to all. Chris xx
The lesson to take from the big layoffs at Twitter and Facebook is this: "The job will never love you back." No matter how much effort you put in, no matter how clever you are, no matter how long you've committed yourself to $COMPANY, when push comes to shove, you're just a replaceable part in the machine.
Keep your weekends and your evenings. Leave your bugs at work. Your time is for you, and your boss won't send you flowers.
it feels like I’ve landed at the airport and not sure where I can find the best route to the beach. #twittermigration
Not tooting much yet: still trying to listen and learn Mastodon’s ways (I like wrappers! Those are good). It seems very nice here. I’m trying to avoid being part of the loutish Twitter gang, stomping into the formerly serene Mastodon village, honking their toot horns, putting their feet up on the furniture, and threatening to buy this place and turn it into a Wetherspoon’s. Thank you old friends and new for being so welcoming!
Ok, so I just moved to my own server.
I’m astonished at how painless it was.
I understand there’s a federated Facebook-alike too.
If ISPs start offering federated social media servers to their customers, like they do email, it could finish the privacy stealing, data harvesting big social media monoliths. There would be no need to use them any more. It would just be a service, like email, with no ulterior motive.
God, I hope it comes to pass.
There once was a spaceman called Musk,
Who hollowed the bird to a husk,
We migrated and flew,
To find friends old and new,
And now we are fans of the tusk 🦣

hey guys from Twitter.
we are glad to see you here but please understand that the fact that fediverse is anti-viral, anti-hierarchy and anti-capitalist is the point of it
please also understand that CWs, alt text and other stuff here is not there to "silence you" — it is to allow users greater agency over their feeds for their mental benefit, and to support disabled people.
this network was built by marginalized people. who disliked Twitter for the same reasons you do.
don't bring it back.
