I've decided to shift my social media focus to Mastodon, and so this is my #introduction.
I lead Microsoft Research and new product/business incubations that emerge from our research projects.

I'm pleased to be here and am looking forward to this fresh start with all of you.

It seems appropriate that we thank @ruud and others responsible for #moderation in mastodon.world instance.

We created our account here uninvited and from the very beginning we received a great #support.

On the very first day some Holocaust deniers tried to troll the account. The moderators reacted immediately and, which is very telling), we actually did not experience anything like this afterwords.

We also got #help when we had technical issues with account verification.

Won a very difficult motion? Okay I guess. Landed excellent client? Eh. Drew praise for something I wrote? Fine, sure.

Son really liked my kimchi-jjiggae and ate almost all of it last night? Day made.

@mmasnick @aja Elon’s hatred for Mastodon has its roots in his childhood. In his childish scrawl, he penned a rambling fan letter to John Mastodon. Six months later John made history and a lifelong enemy. Elon received an envelope containing a single piece of paper. Two words written on it, “Who Dis?”. And the rest is history.

Leave Twitter, they said. Not on your life, at least as long as I keep laughing this hard.

If Musk "steps down" as Twitter CEO, per his latest bogus "poll", some things to remember:

1) He'll still be the owner, and the owner makes the rules the CEO carries out.

2) He lies incessantly. Nothing he says can be trusted, ever.

3) Big Journalism will breathlessly cover the charade as if it meant something, and will continue to support a man who loathes honest reporting and has contempt for genuine freedom of expression.

Lol.

So what are the odds this is prompted by creditors telling him they're going to file a petition for an involuntary bankruptcy if he doesn't start paying Twitter's bills? 🙃

Earlier today Elon Musk said that my ban was temporary, 45 min later he denied my appeal to reinstate my account and confirmed that I am *permanently* banned. The email I just received says the decision cannot be reversed.
I have never once violated Twitters rules or terms of service. I’ve never had a single tweet flagged, my account was permanently banned with no warning and with no reason, after I reached out to Musk for comment.

@emptywheel @dangillmor Everyone of them should ALREADY have asked for an archive copy and deleted any DMs older than a week.

Before they delete their phone number they should have requested backup codes for 2FA access.

Their profiles should also give alternate addresses right now, using Twitter bypass tools if they are using Mastodon account addresses.

Twitter formalizes blocking of accounts that exist only to reference content on other social media sites, including Mastodon.

Specific examples of violating tweets given in the policy:

The best thing about this latest Mark Rober video is that if you know what to look for, you'll see that it matches up with everything I've tried to tell y'all about San Francisco crime:

* SF is the car break-in capital of the USA
