People are slowly, very slowly, coming to the realization that any system in which "More people have jobs" and "Wages went up" are treated as bad news is a deeply, irrevocably broken system. https://twitter.com/kaileyleinz/status/1598670973091323909

The original sin of both tech boosterism and tech criticism is to focus unduly on what a given technology *does*, without regard to who it does it *to* and who it does it *for*. When it comes to technology's effect on our daily lives, the social arrangements matter much more than the feature-sets.

Kanye has dinner with Nick Fuentes and Trump, then praises Hitler as someone that didn't just do bad things, and then forces "free speech absolutist" Musk to relativize his stance and ban him... In a way this can be seen as a form of involuntary performance art. It throws a hand grenade in the palace if bullshit built by Trump, Elon and Co.

Why is Google pushing an ad for a #typosquatter to the top of its search results for "humble bundle"?
Fake site presents a convincing login screen, presumably aimed at stealing creds of registered Humble Bundle users.
There are so many (so so so many!) things I could have included here, but it seems notable that not only is Elon Musk jumping around the content moderation learning curve... he doesn't actually seem to be learning anything. https://www.techdirt.com/2022/12/01/elon-musk-continues-along-the-content-moderation-learning-curve-but-doesnt-seem-to-be-learning-a-damn-thing/

@doxy_cycling I am such a knucklehead! #adventofcode is "an Advent calendar of small programming puzzles for a variety of skill sets and skill levels that can be solved in any programming language you like." It is run by Eric Wastl and you can find more information at https://adventofcode.com/.
It is extremely well done. Puzzles get more complex over the month. Many will post solutions and thought processes so I've found it's a nice way to learn too!

The City of #Denver is planning to conduct sweeps (forced displacement) of people experiencing #homelessness tomorrow despite snow and sub-freezing temperatures. Sweeps in normal weather are cruel & harmful. Forced displacement, where police dispose of tents, sleeping bags, clothes, IDs, & meds in the middle of a #winterweatheradvisory is cruel, inhumane, and unnecessary. This is state sponsored violence led by Michael Hancock, mayor.

In case there was some question of "quiet part loud" going on; this is now on the "loud and proud" over at the birdsite. Sad to see it go.
