The gist: We treat science as a weak-link problem (in which we fear opening the gates to the worst stuff) when when it's properly a strong-link problem (in which we should fear closing the gates on the best stuff).

Had an interesting conversation with a colleague this week re Large Language Models. Crossref has signed POSI, so everything we produce should be open/reproducible. The use of non-open LLMs to complete a task - even when they work well, like reference matching - violates this.
