A "sovereign" web browser will launch in Russia. Domestic government-issued certificates are built-in, and "verified sites" are marked as "green". https://1prime.ru/telecommunications_and_technologies/20230620/840878168.html It's here: https://www.loonabrowser.ru/
It's being advertised as privacy-friendly and "no tracking"!
However, it has a native support for tracking the user with a browser-specific fingerprint, and a designated API for that.
Are you going to use it?
I can't help but feel our local primary school is taking the piss.
Sports day today and then a kids fete thing. The kids all come up with a stall for other kids to spend their cash at.
The parents are then expected to provide the sweets and materials to create the stalls, so in our case 2 tubs of cornflour and a few packets of haribo.
But then we got asked to "provide a float" for the stall, seriously what the fuck. And then they said, let us know if you'd like to leave it as a donation.....
Fuck right off. Parents are expected to take time off work to support the kids, fair enough, but then on top of that they're expected to donate materials to the school and a float as a donation.... 🤯
submersibles
I can't help but remember the Apollo 1 fire when thinking about these poor men on the submarine. If they get to the surface but don't get found they're still stuck because they can't open the door because its bolted shut on the outside.
Apollo 1, the hatch opened inwards and played a part in the lack of ability for crew egress when the capsule caught fire. Trapping them inside in the fire rather than allowing their escape.
My guess is that the hatch opens outwards on the sub but the bolts prevent opening, I wonder how other deep sea subs operate in this regard.
Honestly, fuck the Tories
The SS Richard Montgomery off the River Medway with all it's bombs.... https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/SS_Richard_Montgomery
For the first time in a long time, I also knocked up a bit of a vlog from the walk.
Sounds a bit garbage because it was windy and I was missing a dead cat, but it's not the worst!
Attempted a bit of bird #photography yesterday on the #Norfolk #Broads https://tombarber.smugmug.com/Norfolk-Broads/
Those #Swallows are pretty fast to track with a massive lens...
Just in case it wasn't obvious how much of the launchpad was "ejected" during yesterdays #spacex launch.... https://twitter.com/LabPadre/status/1649053476276797440
