Living wage increased by 9.7%. Why can't public sector employees enjoy the same increase? #AutumnStatement
A decade of lost growth.

Under the Tories
Don’t ever let anybody tell you that the economy is safe under the Tories.
Basically a Government led by a multi-millionaire who married the daughter of a billionaire then for reasons he can’t/won’t explain took a 97% pay cut is telling you that you have to pay more taxes to pay for services that he and his friends want to make a profit from.
Significant parts of Europe just had their hottest October on record. Berkeley Earth data for Switzerland pictured.
This follows many parts of Europe having their hottest summer on record.
Hello!
I’m James Roddie, a full-time professional photographer based in Inverness in #Scotland .
I specialise in #mountain landscapes and upland #wildlife , and can often be found up on the summits at dawn or dusk waiting for that next moment of magical light.
My images are widely published in magazines and books, and commissions make up much of my work. I also guide a variety of wildlife photography workshops throughout the Highlands.
I look forward to getting started on here!

I just saw this via Emma Kennedy apologies if you’ve seen to already

#Threethings for Fri Nov 11: 1. Thanks to Bill Keel, a new #Hubble image of Bruno’s Violin Clef, found by #galaxyzoo. Four galaxies dancing together. 2. Congrats to the Keck #Planet Finder on first light, an instrument capable of detecting a star moving at much less than walking speed. https://keckobservatory.org/kpf/ 3. For Nov 11, I’m always moved by the memorial in New College chapel to German members of college who died in WW1, erected in 1930. Story here: https://tinyurl.com/NewColWW1
Monday's RHLSTP with Joe Lycett and Jim and Mat from Ghosts has sold out, but you can still live stream (or watch whenever you like) by buying a ticket at http://gfsboxoffice.com

When following back people here, I’m noticing a lot of people haven’t posted anything yet.
If you can’t think of anything to write just yet, then do consider just reblogging (=retweeting!) good content that you see around. You could start with this post, for example, to encourage more people to start sharing content around here.
BTW, as we get the Bylines publications going on here, that will provide ample good news content for the community. 👍👍
Cricket WCT20 at School
#Cricket #WorldCup #T20 ongoing and we cancelled classes after lunch to let the kids watch matches live.
Yesterday's #PAKvsNZ and today's damp squib #INDvsENG.
Mad scenes. Most kids don't have telly at home, and they enjoyed the big screen at school. Cheering, hollering and random wacky responses to onscreen commentary and play. :)
In between overs and wickets, explaining cricketing terms and context to them. Older know-it-alls pitching in and showing off in front of kids and teachers. Enjoying ads and critiquing in the most basic manner.
Reader. Fun was had.
That's my #EduGlow for today.
@Herring1967 would love to receive a notification
Yesterday, I came on here nervously. It was all a bit weird, but intriguing, but weird. And I didn't really know what I was doing.
Today, I'm feeling much more grounded in this place. I've read more. I've played around more. I get it. I love the community spirit here - the philosophy behind it - and I see a ton of potential in the whole federated model. It's fascinating. ♥️
This painting makes me long sweetly for home, and long bike rides, hopefully not against the fen blow (a wind that picks up the soil and slams it in your face till it stings), with some dockey (packed lunch) and a bag of dods (sweets).
