Brexit & cheese
“still feel very let down and bitterly disappointed by the fact I’ve had so many conversations with …government ministers and nothing happens.
“They are impotent because of their #Brexit policy. They are so anti-Europe they won’t even discuss getting a better deal sorted out. Getting access to the single market has to be the first step.”
This week in Brexit
So far this week:
- Former member of the Bank of England’s monetary committee Michael Saunders told Bloomberg: “without Brexit, we wouldn’t be talking about austerity this week”
- Paris stock market overtook London’s for the first time
- George Eustice admitted post-Brexit Australia and New Zealand trade deals are bad for the UK
- Post-Brexit quality assurance mark delayed again

Was this what they had in mind when "taking back control" after #brexit ?
I beseech you to watch/listen to Timothy Snyder open access lecture series on Ukraine at Yale

UK Politics Anti Brexit call to action
Is the penny beginning to drop with the #brexit folks yet?
I don't think so, as they are a thick bunch.
From the article:
"The first year of the pandemic damaged the UK more than most economies. This was the textbook expectation from many economic experts of the government's approach to post-Brexit policy. It is more difficult for small businesses, especially, to trade with Europe, and the UK, by design, now has more limited access to pools of European workers. As a result the economy is less productive, less resilient, less flexible and less responsive."
From time to time the BBC reports a bit of #brexit truth.
Now that the Pro-European movement has had a slight burst of energy, with public opinion turning against Brexit, the national rejoin march having tens of thousands of attendees, and the #fbpe hashtag being just as active as ever; when do you think that the UK (or what’s left of it) will rejoin the EU?

Unbelievable people believed the lies that Brexit would bring "freedom".
Is the fediverse about to get Fryed? (Or, “Why every toot is also a potential denial of service attack”)

It's not going well for Brexit Britian. But Jeremy Hunt will tell everyone it's post pandemic or the Ukrainian war causing all UK woes.
Does anybody know if #mastodonlists can be used to track #hashtags?
For example, I’d like to track #IrishHistory and #IrishArchaeology in a singular list rather than pulling up each hashtag individually.

Elon Musk
Mr Musk has shown the damage a client media can do , he’s been touted as The Greatest Investor since Edison, The Real Tony Stark, and The Smartest Man Alive. All by journalists willing to repeat what his publicist told them.
He is the perfect encapsulation of the main issue with conservatism: mistaking luck for skill.
His luck has run out, his reputation is in tatters, he’s going to bankrupt all his companies.
