Oh hell yeah. @mozilla is launching a Mastodon instance in early 2023! I’m very excited for this. Mozilla is really good at what they do. Firefox has over 200M monthly active users, and with any luck they’ll build better support for the fediverse into Firefox itself. Mastodon will greatly benefit from easy to use professionally run instances that can handle massive scaling https://blog.mozilla.org/en/mozilla/mozilla-launch-fediverse-instance-social-media-alternative/

Ambulances haven't been able to respond in a timely fashion for ages, particularly for non-time critical issues. Politicians and senior NHS staff complain about it today as though it apparently didn't matter yesterday or the day before of every other day in the recent past.
The #AmbulanceStrikes are the only tool ambulance staff have to make this point.
Some shots you can’t plan for.
I was waiting to shoot the rise of a supermoon when the clouds rolled in a ruined the spectacle. Instead of the moon crowning the tip of the Bay Bridge, a flock of pelicans passed over it, in perfect formation mimicking the shape of the bridge.

#whyistayonmastodon sounds like an giant undecipherable mess of sounds.
#WhyIStayOnMastodon reads out "Why I Stay On Mastodon" 😄
(Reason #44 I stay here: my previous requests like this have been generally well-received, proving that most people are awesome.)

🚨 Striking new finding: A study finds "abundant viral miRNA (Epstein Barr + Human Herpes Virus 6) in various regions of the human brain and associated neuronal tissues including the spinal cord that is only detected in #MECFS patients and not in control." https://www.frontiersin.org/articles/10.3389/fmolb.2022.1044964

Public Service Warning
Mastodon has a very big surge of new users right now. There's no way to tell if it will be sustained, but at this early point it looks similar to Nov 18 when when Musk pulled the employee purge.
It is very challenging for system administration to accommodate so many new users. If your server starts to struggle, it is not broken and will get sorted out.
We're all in this together. It's our social network. Be patient. What we are building is amazing.

A long shot but you never known. My eldest son is trying to get home for his brother’s birthday at the end of the next week but the #Trains are against us. Is anybody driving from #York to #Peterborough or #Huntingdon towards the end of next week? He’s a lovely lad and can talk the hind leg off a donkey but you won’t come to any harm!
