Comparing the development of AI to Oppenheimer is fascinating and apt. Sam is right to say that we have every right to be afraid of AI, …driving us to figure out how to best handle it.

“The apparatus moved into an unpredictable orbit and ceased to exist as a result of a collision with the surface of the Moon” Roskosmos
This description is surprisingly apt. The moon got in the way.

The other big age-related Apollo fact is that no one born after 1935 has walked on the moon.
A statistic I worked out five years ago, still waiting for a new global amazement:
I was curious when a majority of people hadn't been alive for Apollo. It was early January, 1999 when median global age and time since Apollo were both 26.08 years. Humanity has to do something amazing roughly every 20 years for a majority of people to remember it.
Ghost hoaxing was a thing in Ballarat in the late 1800s, especially around cemeteries. Defacing faces or vandalising graves with “glow in the dark paint”
It is ironic to read that those defacing the memorials and graves to scare others, became symbols of death by something that was going to kill them. Via @ABC
A four-day workweek trial has yielded positive findings, showing a decrease in burnout and an increase in productivity when combined with hybrid workplaces.
Could this achieve a better work-life balance in education and boost your job?

I spotted this gem, whilst reading a film column by Simon Ings in my @newscientist magazine this morning (23 January 2023, p36) .. nicely frames a question that we should be asking about the technology in our lives. #FutureNews #Robotics
Achieving a harmonious #teamculture is hard work to bridge different understandings about issues of culture and best practice. There were those that we click with and those that we clash with. The #research by Ali Walker outlines some interesting strategies to resolve this.
