got 20 requests for inscribed books, that's a chunk of work (getting mailing addresses, payments, writing, mailing, etc)
am glad this kickstarter was so small - good learning curve

i loved making these drawings and describing them on the fly, till there was just a mess at the end :)

i do like this talk - very much a fireside chat, it was almost 15 min before I went to the 1st slide:

i actually do this at the END of the year, not the start - now I have all the data, what were the good and interesting and surprising stories I encountered ---- it always surprises me how many and how good.

like procrastination, but on ly on certain things, those I don't want to do ...very selective. I do certain things with great energy, and then just walk over my socks (e.g., and Just anything that doesn't catch my fancy).

I usually say lazy but that isn't right.

is there a word for someone who is really good at avoiding doing something they don't like to do?

Not like lazy, which is a disinclination to exertion in general.

i mean like walking past socks on the floor for days in a row, taking out the garbage, etc.

any?

regarding design an organization for the agile style : I started a conversation yesterday w someone.

pre-test, something about putting yr money where yr mouth is :).

Allocate EUR 2M for the sole purpose of increasing trust, lowering fear, increasing collaboration, with measurements;

review/change bonus contracts, employee appraisals,

all that just on the Collaborate quadrant.

Then move to the Deliver (w feedback) quadrant ... but the 1st set will eliminate most cos.

A Mathematician Who Decodes the Patterns Stamped Out by Life

Corina Tarnita deciphers bizarre patterns in the soil created by competing life-forms. She’s found that they can reveal whether an ecosystem is thriving or on the verge of collapse.

I set up hachyderm.io/@totherotheralist as my other place, where other people can see my posts - probably will cross post tech content, we'll see, i'm still exploring

based on something I just saw, i actually got the desire to "design" an agile organization for a company --- most just do haphazard things. would love to try for a deliberate design. Am curious whether any CxO team would be up to the challenge

@totheralistair I am with the Yes faction. Reason: I read this: kotaku.com/the-exceptional-bea
And after thinking about it... I am no developer, I see them as artisans. Like a carpenter you have lot´s of ways to build a table or chair. But not every design lasts for centuries to come.

Her genes were a mixture from four egg and sperm cells instead of the normal two. Her genetics derive from two separately fertilized eggs that fused early when her mother was pregnant with her.

this is new to me:
Objects move in spacetime at the speed of light. A stationary object isn’t moving through space at all, moving through time at the speed of light.
an object moving through space at the speed of light has no speed to move through time

just saw this --- it's not as funny as it used to be hah.

what happens if you do a big bang deployment without experiments ---

just ran across this old video clip, and this last section says it all :)
