Holy crap! I completely forgot that I saved this amazing Kodak DC120, back in 2016, when it was going to get thrown out in an old-gear purge at the institution where we stay in Amman before going out into the field!

At the time I thought it was neat, but I didn’t have a cf card reader. So apparently I just turned it on, took a few test photos and then put it at the back of my storage shelf!

But it’s totally ready for the #ShittyCameraChallenge and even #1990sCameraChallenge

@ShittyCameraChallenge everything I read online told me the Nikon N70 was a bad camera with a shitty interface so I bought one for the #1990sCameraChallenge and it’s actually great. EVERYONE IS WRONG.

In a time when similarly featured cameras are selling for $100+ you can still get an excellent condition N70 for $15-$25. You’ll spend more money on batteries and a roll of film. This shitty camera isn’t actually that shitty, FIGHT ME

@ShittyCameraChallenge OK so from the last two challenges - #InstantRegret and #1990sCameraChallenge - here's a legit favourite from each, plus a "so shamelessly bad it's almost circled back round to good again":

My favourite from the "Instant Regret" Shitty Camera Challenge: Set of 3 minimalist black and white Polaroids - each shows a single object, floating on a textured grey background like it is suspended in mid air. The first is a feather, the second is an egg, and the third is a twig. The background of each has a dark shadow at the top, fading gradually into a lighter grey.
My "so bad it's almost good again" from the "Instant Regret" Shitty Camera Challenge. Extremely overexposed minimalist Polaroid, showing a red glass vase with two stems of dried physalis seed pods in it. The Polaroid is so overexposed that the background is completely plain white, and parts of the plant stems have vanished entirely. All that is left is the bright red vase with dark stems seen inside it, and a few hazy bright orange physalis seed pods in mid air above it.
My favourite from the 1990s camera challenge, taken with an awful Sony Mavica floppy disk camera. The photograph shows a stylised winter scene in a Christmas bauble, with skeletal trees on a snowy hill. The colour tones are soft blueish greys, with occasional points of warm golden light.

@ShittyCameraChallenge ... I think my worst example was the first 'image' I made using Instax Square for the #ShittyCamaraChallenge #InstantRegret while my favourite is the first really successful trichrome produced with the Gameboy for the #1990sCameraChallenge. Oddly enough, these are actually both the same subject.

Huge congrats to @PapaShittyCams for the conclusion of #1990sCameraChallenge, another great #ShittyCameraChallenge!

So here's an unsolicited suggestion, if @PapaShittyCams is interested... how about a Dirty Lens challenge, for photos made with the most scratched, dusty, fungus-filled lenses folks have? I've got some HORRIBLE, uncleanable lenses I could use a little motivation to test. #BelieveInFilm

So I left my phone charging while we went out and when I came back it was exploding with @moragperkins wonderful Polaroid emulsion lifts of my Gameboy trichromes for the @ShittyCameraChallenge #1990sCameraChallenge.

Couple more variations on the theme.

I can't quite decide whether I prefer the neater square versions upthread, or these two with the more organic haphazard edges!

Normally with emulsion lifts I prefer them with some folds and creases and messiness, but in the case of these I think the neat squares work well with the pixellation?

Polaroid emulsion lift on a piece of A5 watercolour paper, showing the same image as the first one in this thread. The image is in colour, and shows two trees with a rich canopy of dark green leaves in the middle of the frame. The sky behind them is clear blue, fading to pink close to the horizon, and the grass in the foreground is a light vivid green. To the right of the trees a small building can just about be made out. The whole scene is pixellated; made up of a grid of small solid coloured squares, giving it an appearance like a cross stitch design. This emulsion lift is a little less tidy than the previous version, with folds and creases at the edges, and a missing corner at the top right of the frame.

The image is a surreal scene of a single tree against a clear blue sky. The colours are dark, rich and alien; the tree has a canopy of deep red leaves, and the sky fades from a deep rich navy blue through to a pinkish orange where the sun is setting in the bottom right corner of the frame. The whole scene is pixellated; made up of a grid of small solid coloured squares, giving it an appearance like a cross stitch design. This time the emulsion lift is a little less neat, with folds and creases at the edges. The top left corner in particular has been bunched up on top of itself, and there is a small tear in the emulsion.

Just because the #1990sCameraChallenge is over doesn't mean that the #GameboyPocket goes into a cupboard. Here's the #GameboyCamera at our local supermarket with an IR cut filter. #Nintendo, #Retro, #2Bit, #GameboyColor, #Funtography,

A #Funtograph of those little structures created for shopping trollies outside the Continente supermarket in Oiã. Taken with the Gameboy Pocket and Gameboy Pocket Camera. An IR cut filter was held over the lens to make the colours more 'natural'.

Day 62 of #1990sCameraChallenge #ShittyCameraChallenge: crepe flowers in a dark room.

A low-key last entry for the 90s challenge. I couldn’t get out to do more shooting/developing over the last few days, so this was just a quick attempt to mess with higher res imaging from the D1: This is an 8.6mp composite of some flowers my daughter made.

I didn’t get a chance to shoot nearly as much as during the last round (nor as many cameras!) but still had a blast.
