@croyle As much as the #ARRL annoys the spit out of me as it writhes in its death throes, their Worked All States is the real deal.

#LOTW isn't a logbook, despite the name. It's a matching engine that awards "QSLs" when both QSO halves match. You need to have an actual logbook (#DXLab's DXKeeper here but lots of packages integrate) to keep track of your progress. The ARRL doesn't understand that… And the current "CEO" threatened to make it worse w/"project X" or whatever.

#ARRL is so dumb that they think their logo is a diamond (e.g., “Diamond Club”, “Behind The Diamond”) when it's a rhombus. As in the rhombic antennas that were once at W1AW.

Cat was let out of the bag at my ham club meeting last night...I'll be running for Section Manager for the ARRL Santa Barbara section for 2026-2027. NS6X is stepping aside to run for a position much higher in the league. Those are big shoes, but there are a lot of great hams in the section and this should be fun.

More on my recent #HamRadio rant. I got banned from a forum thread because I challenged what the #ARRL is doing to bring in the next diverse generation of licensees. I was told that the league has great resources available.

The great resources? Example: There is an upcoming event in which old guys will be asking young Girl Scouts for their name, address, and phone number so that they can send NTS messages (with that information shared on-air by each handler in the path) to the girls parents as a demonstration of how interesting #HamRadio might be to young girls.

First, this is creepy. Second, NTS messages? RLY?

so, a few months ago I got an email from the local ARRL Bureau for QSL cards, and they said I had some waiting, so I sent them the $3 and waited... lol

I just got the mail today, and oh my gosh, there has to be 30 to 40 QSL cards for the past 5 years here! this is going to take some time to catch up on,

@profdc9 We have to make it for you and me, despite what the FCC or the ARRL intends. No preemptive apathy! Unfortunately, the organizing necessary to be effective advocates on this did not seem to exist before this statement was issued. That is, the ARRL used to serve this function and ham radio has nt worked to replace them or democratize the #ARRL since its decline.

That does NOT prevent you from raising hell about it with both orgs (in addition to polite, formal public comments). #protest
