Travel Trivia: Salar de Uyuni, the world's largest salt flat, is over 10,000 square kilometers (3900 sq miles) and up to 10 meters thick (32 feet). It's famous for its unique "mirror effect" during the rainy season, where a thin layer of water transforms the surface into a giant mirror, reflecting the sky.

Feliz Día de la Tierra! Here are some images from my most amazing journey, Los Andes Bolivianos, 10/2008. At that time climate crisis was already a big issue w melting glaciers there above 5500m. For their overall water supply in La Paz. Tried to climb 6480 Volcan Illimani, but got the Soroche at 5640m, had to descend. Worth the try tho, such an incredible environment. All of which is even more threatened now w our fascist criminal oligarchy. #climatecrisis #mountains #andes #bolivia #earthday
