I visited Robert Haus, a national neon treasure two days ago in St. Cloud, Minnesota.
I have known him online for years, and he moved from Alaska so now he is slightly easier to visit.

Robert has probably the best collection of historic neon artifacts, especially when it comes to old bending equipment, transformers, catalogs, and other difficult to find oddities. "Neon Archaeology" is his thing and his blog catalogs his journeys,

His setups were impressive- he has very comprehensive radio and electrical knowledge around neon bombarding systems. FOCI is lucky to have him around. I gave him some hand pulled tubing to play with in exchange for some coffee beans he roasted and some really old rare electrodes. It was so nice to meet him and his wife.

Robert Haus' bombarding table, made of wood, with vintage hand torch and a brass manifold. He has a giant variac under the table that is used as a choke for a 7.5kva bombarder coil. Unlike most bombarding systems, this lets him turn it down all the way to less than a normal neon transformer current.

Sometimes vintage/antique finds come in stages. I found this unusual paddle and knew I wanted to make it into an amaro flight sampler. This meant searching for small, low glasses with a large foot. They aren't easy to find. Most of these type of glasses have a small foot. It's also hard to find them with unchipped rims.

Yesterday, I found an #antique microscope at a thrift store. It even has its original box. It is incredible. The scientist side of me is thrilled.

My dad gave me this wee barometer/altimeter, made about 1890. Took it out in the Mull hills yesterday - it's as accurate, and smaller, than mobile phone GPS 🤩 🥰 . Another cool piece of retro tech from my local Habitat for Humanity store, a Revere 16mm sound film projector. Love All the metal with baked paint and the lovely case with a speaker behind the fancy grill and a hidden compartment for wires and accessories. Very nice for the time. Love it, but no place for it. Would be great in somebody's theater room or indie theater lobby.

Lovely vintage Revere 16mm sound movie projector with a a $75 thrift store price sign on it.
The case for the projector in the other picture, a brown wooden lid that fits over the top and latches at the bottom, with a carry handle on top. Part of one end is open with accessories inside. There is an elaborate grill on the side that covers a speaker.
