A fly through of the Auger Observatory

Located on the vast plain known as the Pampa Amarilla (yellow prairie) in western Argentina, this hybrid detector employs independent methods to detect and study the highest-energy cosmic rays.

Its 1,660 water surface detector tanks, separated from each of its neighbors by 1.5 kilometers, cover about 3,000 km2 of the Pampa.
