@ajsadauskas @JessTheUnstill @tomiahonen yes, and to add insult to injury #Mozilla didn't even wanted to sell people like @fuchsiii or me a #FirefoxOS device, with the only one being "launched" in the #EU being a #SimLock'd & #NetLock'd #prepaid phone in #Spain one could only attain in-store with all the "#KYC" nonsense they had, demanding a legal address in Spain back then.
So whilst Firefox OS had the most "#accessible" #Development #tools (literally using #Firefox for it and having every #App as #WebView|s / #HTML5+#JS5+#CSS3 files in a container), they didn't even sold us said devices, making it a worse flop than #UbuntuTouch which at least still gets some devices made that support it...
And #nerds like myself are far from the "#consoomer #Normies" for whom stuff that isn't on shelves at Staturn/MediaMarkt, BestBuy, Walmart, ... doesn't exist. I'm used to importing #tech that I want!
Feels even more half-assed than #MobileCoin in hindsight…

@Linux @breadcat @tertle950 the Problem ain't web standards, far from it!
@torproject / #TorBroeser per default can do all the fancy #HTML5 / #CSS3 / #JS6 stuff anyone wants because it's just #Firefox with #Tor bolted into the inlet & exhaust.
The only issue I can see are assholes blocking Tor and that is IMHO illegal and beeds to be penalized...

chaos.socialI would love to see proper versioning on CSS. I still remember the release of CSS3 and it's sad, that this moment just happened once in the 18 years I do this job now.
At the same time other language had multiple ground breaking releases.
CSS isn’t developing in a slow way. Not a bit. But you can't put the finger on a feature set. You can't hire for a specific feature set.
"10 years of CSS experience" can mean, that border-radius is the most exciting thing that person ever did and starts to cry if they see the clamp syntax.
"1 year experience with CSS 5" on the other hand would be pretty clear.

Of all the #learntocode #webdev tutorial sites out there, so many of them grew up during the #surveillancecapitalism era where they want you to sign in, pay a subscription, spam your friends, etc.
Meanwhile, the place I learned #HTML5 and #CSS3 ,

www.w3schools.io@hexaheximal@blob.cat @esm @hexaheximal@wetdry.world ...and even if we think local #WebApps are a legitimate way to handle sensitive comms - they ain't but let's just assume they are for the sake of argument - WHY would you do anything beyond a .desktop file that includes startup parameters for #Firefox (or even #Chrome if you're that kind of Cyber-Masochist!) that specify the browser, and the file to load.
Because any good #WebApp should be reduceable as #HTML5 + #JS6 + #CSS3 and measured in kB or maybe a few MB.
I wish float was more semantic. I always want a right-floated div, never a left-floated one, but because we read left to right that means the content which is before structurally ends up after visually. Is this possible to solve with #CSS3 #flexbox ? Has anyone ever managed to get right floats working?
