I just got an alert through the Harvard emergency messaging system: “Transit Police are reporting shots fired at the Harvard Sq MBTA station. CPD, Transit, State, and Harvard Police are searching the Square for the suspect. Shelter in place. Please enter the nearest building and stay there until all clear is given.”

Bring placards, water, snacks, masks and NOISE.

Please no SWP placards or newspaper selling.

Arrive and leave in a group if at all possible. If you need a buddy, let us know - we may be able to arrange one for you. We strongly encourage you to wear a mask, for reasons both of health and anonymity. We will have masks to distribute.

We'll give further access info when the route is confirmed. We will meet on the large flat area of pavement outside the Guildhall, and return there at the end of the march. We will move slowly to allow everyone to keep up. We'll have a first aider throughout the event. It will be loud! Unfortunately we do not expect to be able to arrange for a BSL interpreter to be present.

As usual please take a covid test before attending if possible, and do not attend if you feel ill in ways that are unusual for you.

If you need funds for transport to the protest, we may be able to cover fares. We may also be able to provide sighted guiding from nearby transport stops. We can help you plan a route by public transport. Please get in touch if any of this would be helpful to you.

This is huge! K2-18b is a planet 124 light years away from us. It's much bigger and denser than Earth, and it's far enough away from its star for liquid water to exist on its surface.

We're 99.7% sure (not quite good enough yet, btw - the magic number is 99.99997%) that its atmosphere has "traces of either dimethyl sulfide (DMS) or dimethyl disulfide (DMDS) – or both", in concentrations thousands of times higher than on Earth.

On Earth, these compounds are only made by living things, particularly by single-celled organisms. As far as we know, it's not even theoretically possible for them to form any other way. #Astronomy #Science #Aliens #k218b #Cambridge
