Doing some bare metal #development for the RP2350. So far I have a blinky on a SysTick interrupt and a working UART. The hard part is done as I can now have “proper” print-based debug output. #embedded #arm

@Sempf don't think it's gonna happen, one can make a use case for switching from fortran and cobol but systems written in those languages are already battle proven. Not an easy switch to another language just because rule of cool.

What do you all think of #Golang versus #Rust to replace #Java for enterprise #development?

The benefit of #AI in #softwaredevelopment is absurd.

They want to automate junior positions, with the notion that the remaining developers will be more efficient.

This totally ignores the fact that the workforce is transient, it requires the continuous upskilling and turnover of new people.

By replacing the intake of new #developers with #software, we are foregoing the #development of more senior and advanced professionals.

The expertise AI gives is not equivalent to a skilled professional.

Ordered an FPGA board with PCIe as I want to get some experience with that interface. Most are really expensive but I found an affordable Dragon board from KNJN. Let’s find out if it’s any good when it gets here.. #fpga #development

Hi guys, I have tried the #CC1101 from #Lilygo. It is important that you pay attention to the identification CC1101 if you want to reproduce this yourself, because the device is also sold under other identifiers with a different range of functions and looks exactly the same.

It is a
#hacker #tool with which you can record and analyze #Wifi, #Bluetooth, #NFC and #Lora signals. You can also use it as a #BadUSB #development tool. It is much cheaper than a #FlipperZero, but also has a smaller range of functions.

It is somewhat disappointing that the default firmware supplied is only suitable for testing the screen, LEDs and controls. It is otherwise useless and should therefore be replaced immediately.

For my first test I choose the
#firmware from #CapibaraZero: https://capibarazero.com

It is very easy to
#install via the #browser. However, my Firefox refused to do this, which is why I used Thorium (a free Chrome variant): https://flash.capibarazero.com

Stay tuned and follow me if you don't want to miss it and I'll tell you what you can do with the device.

Mystery of the demo gods solved in japanese translation.

"demo" でも actually translates to "though", "but" or "however".

Demo gods behaviour make a lot more sense now.

I mean, I don't necessarily *want* to dump #vscode in favor of #neovim, but vscode uses so much memory and cpu, especially with remote or #container #development. But here I am, learning how to configure neovim. I guess I'm learning #lua too. #programming #ide

The Late Night Linux Family

Joe accidentally tried vibe coding and it was as much of a disaster as you’d imagine. Amolith has also tried it, and does his best to defend the use of LLMs with development. Kevin and Andy are mostly bemused. We all have concerns about the ethics and environmental issues.

This episode has a bit more bad language than usual.
