HackadayI was tired of counting pins when working with electronics like the Raspberry or ESP32, so I created a simple editor that generates pinout diagrams that fit right onto the board's pins.

I bought an used Icom IC-7000 and found out that the display is horrible at outdoors in sunshine today when i was activating WWFF ref.
Then: "Wait a minute, I can write my own display for it!"
First tests going on here. The board is some ESP32 board with oled display. A bit of enclosure and a bit of codety-code and we are good!

Remember pocket calculators with solar cells to prolong battery life? Something similar is now available as (emulated) IBM XT, built around an ESP32 and an e-ink display: https://hackaday.com/2025/04/23/the-evertop-a-low-power-off-grid-solar-gem/ #vintagecomputing #retrocomputing #esp32
When was the last time you saw a computer actually…
HackadayProbably my final order from China for a while - and I probably should have order more stuff, this all got here pretty fast considering.
4 Puzzle Units, a Unit ASR, a Atom Echo Base (not sure why I wanted/needed this), a Unit Joystick2 and a StamPLC which I think was a really good deal, not real sure what I'm going to do with it yet.
M5 stopped taking orders from the US on the 18th, I got in just under the deadline - and like I said probably should have ordered more stuff
Musste mal wieder basteln. Ist ein Dosenradio bei herausgekommen.

New #Zephyr video! One big benefit of using an #RTOS is the ability to run multiple threads, and that's exactly what I cover. Check out the full video!

Evertop is a portable retro PC with an E Ink display and hundreds of hours of battery life
Most modern laptops have battery life measured in hours. Smartphones may run for a day or two, and tablets can sometimes go a bit longer. But the Evertop is a portable computer with an E Ink display and integrated keyboard that promises “hundreds or even thousands of hours” of battery life from a single charge. And when the battery is running low you can use the built-in solar panel to refuel […]

Tomorrow is the day! Come hang out and learn about writing device drivers in #Zephyr. Even if you don't have hardware, you can still follow along. And yes, the webinar will be recorded.

@feoh @sverdlyuk bought all the parts, but failed the assembly So need some tools to try to resolder correctly.
This is an community designed ~10€ console based on #ESP32. The idea behind is to make easy to assemble and program educational tool. Here's the project page(on Ukrainian, but translator should do the job): https://docs.lilka.dev/uk/latest/about/
Right now it has #FreeRTOS based "OS", DOOM port, NES emulator, supports Lua "apps". Also has GPIO pins on board.
Figment is another E Ink handheld game console made for text adventures (and maybe more)
E Ink displays offer a paper-like viewing experience that makes them a good fit for eBook readers and digital signage. They consume less power than LCD or AMOLED screens, emit no light, and can be viewed using ambient light only. But they also tend to have much lower screen refresh rates than other display technologies which is why, with a few exceptions, you don’t often see them used as […]

Video of my progress to make a clock out of a pinball score reel.
This is an Adafruit ESP32 Feather V2 running uLisp code to cycle four relays driving 24v to the reel solenoids.
The whole thing is wonderfully clacky and mechanical.
Next to do is wiring the zero switches on the reels back to the ESP32 so I know what number the reels are at.
