I don't understand why the originating server doesn't report the number of boosts and favorites to my little, tiny server so I can tell what's happening. I usually see about 5-15% of the actual number, but that varies wildly.

It's kinda isolating to be so out of the loop. I'm excited for my server to be able to fetch all of the replies, though.

By default, your profile will be non-discoverable*. To change that, go to

Edit profile > Public profile > Privacy and reach > Feature profile and posts in discovery algorithms

Independently of the above, on the same profile tab, you can adjust your settings for

> Include profile page in search engines

This is coming up as I have seen a few profiles that I expect to really want to be discoverable not actually having enabled this discoverability for greater reach (institutions, universities). This means among other things that those profiles do not show up in the instance directory such as for example at https://academiccloud.social/directory or at https://social.kit.edu/directory

At the same time, enabling this as an individual is interpreted as consent to be included, for example, in starter packs at https://fedidevs.com/starter-packs/ so decide carefully.

*that is a good thing: a privacy-first approach with opt-in

Is this a thing, and how is it achieved?

OK Fedi-hive-mind… am I missing out here due to using a ridiculously outdated app, or is this what linked BlueSky posts look like to everyone: just a hyperlinked URL? If this is what it is for everyone here; is this because BlueSky isn’t playing nice, or because Mastodon development isn’t keeping up?

UPDATE: after a few comments and some backtracking… what I’m looking at is a Bsky quotepost by a Bridgy account, and the quotepost is reduced to a URL, I suspect, because the OP account is not bridged.

NOW I’m curious if the quotepost would show through if the OP was a bridged account?

Hi Fedi, I have an opportunity to create a new social community, but for people that are not "libre-savvy". Most of them are skilled professionals, artists in their 30s, but also lively people that might want to share family anecdotes or funny stories.

What software would you recommend? I was thinking about using :
