Seriously, what on earth is going on? They’re releasing a whole new laptop and have given the FL13 Ryzen AI options but there’s nothing new for the FL16. I’m hoping for a 2nd gen dGPU before I would get mine (or even a Zen 5 CPU, but I am OK with a Zen 4 as of now) but it seriously feels like there’s no progress on that front. The last thing they made for the FL16 was the Dual M.2 and that was in December. Will there be new parts for the FL16? When?

@melvian It’s mind boggling how much basic stuff is still totally broken in distributions like Ubuntu.

My #Framework touchpad’s gesture controls were WILDLY sensitive. Extremely simple fix in Windows - if it was a problem. Needed to do intricate command-line stuff, and that didn’t even work to fix it.

For everyone who wants to build #Snap packages on the #DeepComputing #RISCV board for #Framework laptops:

You need to install DeepComputing's #Ubuntu 24.04 image, but its kernel does not support bridge networking, needed by the LXD which #snapcraft uses, so snapping does not work.

A fixed kernel is already available:

Just install all *.deb files and reboot.

The #OpenPrinting #CUPS #Snap is now available for #RISCV in the Snap Store!

To build it it just needed to add #riscv64 as supported architecture in the snapcraft.yaml file.

I has taken 2:30 hours (!) to build on my #DeepComputing / #Framework RISC-V board, and the build servers of the Snap Store need the same time to build it.

2. Relatedly, I love my #Framework laptop. I got tired of Windows enshittification and saw the tariff problems coming last November. Glad I acted then rather than hem and haw.

3. One of the kids has an activity in Duluth, MN this weekend; it'll be a quick trip but I've never been there before.

Finally I was able to upgrade my framework BIOS through fwupdmgr.

But the latest BIOS update made my (Intel 12thgen) throttle the CPU on load so much that I can do barely anything worthwhile. It's even lagging when watching videos.

@frameworkcomputer what good is a repairable Laptop, if the firmware sucks? Even if you are able to fix the firmware, how long will you provide bug fixes for your older models?

Damn... I've been waiting for the #Framework 12 release, and the day it dropped happened to be the same day these stupid tarrifs took effect. Framework has, rightly so, decided to delay pre-orders for the US.

After the last `dnf update` and system restart, I keep hearing the sound effect for (un)plugging of a USB drive from time to time. I don't see any other symptoms but I do see a bunch of these on the kernel log:
