There was a power adapter taped to the inner box. The charging dock has an Asian power plug. Fortunately, I can charge it via USB-C.
This isn’t as heavy as my Motorola XTS 1500, but this has enough heft to be used as a bludgeoning weapon.
I love the circular lanyard connector!
I hate how fragile the rubber port covers are.
The T-shaped antenna is meant for the LF/MF/HF bands, but it has “0.153-18 MHz” stamped on it, so you won’t need it for anything about 17 meters. Set it aside. The rubber duck is very long.
On that note, you do know this can only transmit FM, right? You read the website before clicking Buy, didn’t you? That limits you to 10 meters and up.
It can receive CW on 2200 meters. Fat lot of good that does when you can’t transmit that low.
If you had told me this is my UV-K5 with the Ezgumer firmware, I would have believed you. It’s virtually identical, down to the fonts and screen layout. The blue backlight is your only clue.
Dear lord, the CPS is awful. It’s perfectly cromulent, but it’s missing simple things like copy and paste. That means if you want to insert a channel, you need to edit every single one below that.
The radio can receive on 33 cm and maybe 23 cm, but the CPS won’t let you program frequencies above 600 MHz.
Someone opened a ticket with CHIRP to support this model. They’re working on it. GOOD!
No programming cable is included, but your Baofeng one works fine.

Wow, the #HF bands had been very quiet most of the morning (US Central time), but over the lunch hour 20m seems to have picked way up, at least within the US. Just a few stations decoded from Central and South America, no Europe. The polar attenuation persists. Interesting stuff.
OK gang - interested in your experiences, if any, supplementing #HF #HamRadio with SDR. Two questions: 1. worth it/useful? 2. Dongle or $$ version? Thanks for the feedback! I have a dongle, which doesn't do great on HF at all, and before investing in a switch, or higher quality SDR, wanting to know if the juice is worth the squeeze.

The (very) homebrewed power cable is working great. The qt-60 gets about 3(?!) SWR on the whip antenna...technically it's a CB antenna, but it purports to go up to 30MHz.

I love this little #QRPp CW #MorseCode #Pixie rig. Haven't made a #QSO yet due to operating during contests or inferior #HF band conditions but it was fun to build and is fun to operate. #AmateurRadio #HamRadio

When temporarily operating abroad, some years back on #HF it used to be common to spell "/" as a "stroke". On several occasions I operated on #hamradio #satellites and used this form too but it seemed to me to cause some confusion. I sometimes hear on air this symbol being pronounced as a "slash" (and, in one memorable instance, the operator did not pronounce it at all, simply gave the country prefix followed by their call sign). How do you spell the "/" when operating abroad?

На протяжении нескольких лет многие думают о том, как попасть и реализовать себя в IT-сфере, а во времена ковида тренд значительно усилился. И этот вопрос остается актуальным до сегодняшнего дня. Возможно, моя история кого-то вдохновит или покажет, что любая ваша идея может воплотиться в реальность. Примерно с 2017 года я периодически слышала о том, что в IT-индустрии много интересного, можно творчески подходить к любой задаче и получать от этого удовольствие. Но в то время мне казалось, что IT‑шники это люди из другого измерения со своим взглядом на мир, странным чувством юмора и непонятными разговорами. Мне нравилось то, чем я занималась. А работала я в отделе маркетинга, и мне казалось, что в этой сфере, как нигде, можно творить и реализовывать свои идеи, с учетом того, что до этого мое время было посвящено экономике и финансам. К концу 2020-го года мое внутреннее состояние подсказывало, что нужно что-то менять в жизни. Но что...? Ответить на этот вопрос было не так просто. В определённый момент ты не понимаешь кем ты хочешь стать, когда вырастешь. И чтобы как-то себя расшевелить, было решено изучать что-то новое, чем в последующем я могла бы заниматься на профессиональном уровне. Выбор пал на тестирование. Здесь логично будет рассказать почему именно тестирование, а не разработка. Есть поверье, что вход в IT со стороны тестирования один из самых простых. Лично для меня оно так и есть. Мне было бы сложно сразу изучать любой из языков программирования и хоть как‑то начать писать код. Нужен был более плавный вход в эту сферу. Да, тестировщику в последующем понадобится умение читать код, но этому можно научиться уже в процессе работы. Все же на мой взгляд самое основное в работе тестировщика — это уметь коммуницировать с разработчиками, менеджерами разных уровней и, конечно, с командой тестирования. Tак как я понимала, что с навыком выстраивания диалога у меня нет проблем, я подумала, что это именно то направление с которого я могу погрузиться в мир IT. Но это не говорит о том, что все легко и вообще ничего не нужно для этого делать. Нет, вам предстоит максимально «взорвать» свой мозг большим количеством информации. Но и еще один важный момент для меня — это дальнейший рост не только в техническом направлении, но и в менеджерском. Простыми словами, необязательно из мануального тестировщика расти в автоматизаторы, можно уйти в аналитику, в менеджера проекта, менеджера продукта и т. д. Думаю, еще на выбор повлияла моя педантичная натура или экономическое прошлое, но быть «собакой подозревакой» мне нравится.

Just hooked up an oscilloscope to my HF antenna feed line and it looks like I'm getting a large ~1 MHz signal from the antenna before being filtered in the transceiver to receive 14.074 MHz.
