One for the #homeassistant #iot bubble: What manufacturer and/or series has decent #matter #thread sensors these days? To be clear, I don't want any proprietary bridges.

Initial focus would be on #halleffect or even #mems sensors, air #temperature #humidity #particle and #co2, and movement ideally through #mmwave

Decent pricing or a reliable Chinese source preferred.

My left Nintendo Switch Joy-Con is drifting so bad that I keep dying in Breath pf the Wild. Very frustrating. I barely even played that much! It seems it's just a matter of old age instead of wear and tear.

Anyways, I found out that an entire iFixit pro tech toolkit and two new hall effect joysticks are just slightly more expensive than a pair of new joy-cons. So I went for the more sustainable option. Would you like to see photos/videos of the repair?

I now have 3 Hall Effect Dual Senses. This one was a challenge, thanks to Sony's constant revisions. Got the eBay Purple one today. Wanted to just stick the board into my OG white one, but the insides were different enough I had to swap the entire guts over. Then I realized the R1 buttons weren't the same. After putting it together the 1st time, noticed the charge port had moved. Got all that sorted and sticks calibrated (see alt text). Tested, no drift. 😎 #DIY #Tech #DualSense #HallEffect

A white Dual Sense shell with purple buttons, touch pad, and D-pad sits on my lap. I like it, actually, but it's only like this because Sony keeps changing things. the cables for all the buttons/touch pad had been changed in the purple controller I received today. so the board in it wasn't compatible with the internals of the OG white controller. this meant I had to move the guts from the purple one into the white one, including the touch pad, so I figured I'd move the face buttons over and complete the Frieza look. another thing to note: the purple board has all 4 haptic motor wires soldered to it instead of 2 on each side.
my green gloved hand holds the Dual Sense so that the shoulder buttons face the camera. the R1 looks kinda mangled. this is because Sony changed how they're formed. The controller I bought didn't have an R1 so I went to pop the one from my OG white controller in and the internal slide was too wide, and about 2 millimeters off from the slot it should go into. so I cut the slide narrower, then heated up one side of the button and pressed it flatter. then I shaved off some plastic and then sanded the button so it would fit into the shell. it's not pretty but it'll work till I can find the correct button/some aftermarket stuff.
close up look at the slight "alteration" I did to the Dual Sense shell so I could use the USB-C charging port. used my soldering iron to melt enough plastic to open the port hole about 2-3 millimeters since that's about how much Sony moved it. again, ain't pretty but I don't care lol.

Finally, some decent Hall effect sensors for my Steam Deck, where the sticks started to drift already, from ElecGear, so no more stick drift!

These are better sticks, where there's no outer dead zone issues, unlike GuliKit's:

My Nintendo Switch Pro Controller died. My favorite game controller ever is the Dreamcast, so I decided to be creative and get a GuilKit KingKong 2 Pro with a Hall Effect joystick to rekindle the magic. It came in very nice packaging and the joystick feels nice. Will test it... soon.
