The hazels are blooming! I know, because after breathing unfiltered outside air for only 20 minutes I want to claw my face off. Instead of giving Big Pharma lots of $$$ for antihistamines and eyedrops, I can just wear my respirator. So I wore my respirator on my walk to the supermarket and inside the supermarket.

Via the Weather Channel app: starting to suspect some combination of humidity, high pressure and grass #pollen is the culprit. Conditions that also correlate strongly with cases of "thunderstorm #asthma", when the wind becomes severe enough.

As a friendly reminder, none of the nine plant that are mentioned in the Pollen Forecast are native. Lots of NZ’s ornamental northern hemisphere trees are wind pollinated, whereas almost all NZ native trees make flowers pollinated by insects and bird, and so do not release masses of wind borne pollen.
Woolly mammoths may have been driven to extinction by pollen. Some of us know how that feels.
The big guys were allergic to pollen which damaged their sense of smell. That made it harder for them to find a mate which ultimately led to a decline in birth rates.
Aside: imagine an eight ton animal sneezing.
Damn there's a lot of shit in the air today. I must've sneezed at least 30 times on the dog walk this morning.
I just ordered 400 antihistamines from the OzBargain pharmaceutical dealer. The whole household is susceptible to the pollen menace.
