@fedibikes Bin noch in NRW und war wieder auf einer #radtour von Nümbrecht nach Siegburg und zurück durch das Wahnbachtal

Habe auf dem Damm der Wahnbachtalsperre probiert, die gleiche Position wieder zu finden, die ich 2011 für das #wikipedia Foto gefunden habe (WikiTerra ist mein Account)

Ich war 2008 - 2012 relativ aktiv auf Wikipedia und habe hauptsächlich Fotos beigesteuert. Es gibt hier in der Gegend einige Naturdenkmäler, deren Wikipedia-Artikel kein Foto hatten (zB. https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Teufelskiste)

Dann bin ich aus Interesse los gefahren und habe die abgelichtet.

Für das #Foto der Wahnbachtalsperre habe ich drei Varianten mit unterschiedlichen Belichtungen kombiniert um ein #HDR Foto zu erzeugen

Observation when transcoding #HDR content with #Handbrake. Most players will tone map it if a device doesn't support HDR, so it seems like a better idea to just keep the HDR palette for any HDR content I transcode and just let the player or server tone map it on the fly if it needs to. That way on devices that "do" support HDR you get a much better picture.

Also, for some reason, when filtering HDR content thru BT.709 in Handbrake the files end up bigger than if I just leave them as HDR.

I'll be getting a new TV for my new bedroom shortly... My current 49" Samsung 4k LED is ok but I bought it because it was cheap not because it was one of the better ones. It only cost about £450 back in 2017.

I do want an OLED with HDR though, as I'm getting a decent amount of 4kHDR movies these days.

So please feel free to choose what you think is the best make, and/or add your thoughts in a reply. Or share what you've got and how good/bad it is.

Not sure on a budget... I'd like a 50-55" screen size, mainly because of the location. It's only 155cm between 2 doors and I don't want it to fill the space and risk catching it as you walk in and out through doors. So a 55" would be around 120cm wide giving plenty of room. The unit going in that space is also 120cm wide and the current 49" doesn't fill it.

Answers on a postcard to... erm... vote and post below. Feel free to share and get more eyeballs on it. It's been 8yrs since I last looked at TV's and have no idea how the tech has moved on in that time.

Jak już kiedyś wspominałem, od dłuższego czasu praktycznie stale korzystałem z trybu #HDR w #OpenCamera, by walczyć z prześwietlonymi i niedoświetlonymi zdjęciami.

Kiedy konfigurowałem Open Camera na nowym telefonie, rzuciło mi się, że format "UltraHDR" nie jest obsługiwany w trybie… HDR. No więc doczytałem, że istotnie, jeżeli powyłączam wszystkie niestandardowe ustawienia, to Pixel powinien używać jakiegoś magicznego HDR+ z automatu.

No ale teraz, jak to sprawdzić? No to pomyślałem, że zainstaluję Google'ową aplikację do aparatu i porównam. Przy okazji odkryłem, że obok ustawienia dla UltraHDR jest też opcja zmiany profilu kolorów na Display P3. Oczywisty skutek tego taki, że teraz od kilku dni już robię zdjęcia dwoma aplikacjami i porównuję.

No i cóż, ewidentnie różnica w plikach jest. Pliki ze stockowej aplikacji korzystają z przestrzeni Display P3 i mają dodatkowe metadane HDR+ w XMP, podczas gdy te z Open Camera — sRGB. Oprócz tego, stockowa aplikacja wymusza jakość JPEG 95, podczas gdy Open Camera używa domyślnie 90 (i pozwala to zmienić).

A wizualnie? Wizualnie, jakkolwiek bym się starał, nie widzę żadnej różnicy (nawet pomimo niższej jakości JPEG). Oczywiście, może to być kwestia braku właściwego oprogramowania. Więc nadal jestem rozdarty między użyciem stockowej aplikacji, która zachowuje więcej danych, a Open Camera, które zdecydowanie preferuję.

A potem przeczytałem "What is HDR, anyway?", i zaintrygował mnie fragment mówiący, że "dobre sensory mają rozpiętość tonalną podobną do kliszy fotograficznej". Więc może zamiast tego powinienem wyłączyć wszystkie magiczne HDR-y, i pobawić się z RAW? Tylko pojawia się tu pytanie, czy wolne oprogramowanie do wywoływania RAW trzyma się lepiej niż to do HDR-ów.
