@M0YNG I don't know #HomeAssistant but if it is some service you run in some server, you can create a #DeltaChat bot that runs in that server and sends you #e2ee email notifications
Alternatively, you can configure Delta Chat with a classic email account and receive normal/unencrypted #email so you could just sent you an email notification from #HomeAssistant if it already support it
@M0YNG
Can't #HomeAssistant send just a regular email to your #DeltaChat address?
Either my search skills are failing me, or the names are too generic, or it can't be done...
Anyone know if you can use #deltaChat for notifications from #homeAssistant?
I'm considering not renewing the VPS that runs a matrix server that I only use for this.
With some home repair-and-fixup work going on, I'm working in the attic for a few jobs lately. I'm trying to avoid sunny days and the associated temperature extremes.
Was up there for an hour or two this morning, and moved a #Zigbee temp/humidity sensor up. Don't know why I didn't think of that earlier.
#HomeAssistant tells me it's currently 38C now, so I'm glad I haven't been up this afternoon.
Home Assistant.
Home Assistant Voice Preview.

People have absolutely crazy #homeassistant dashboards with all sorts of bullshit exposed for no good reason.
Like, do you really need to see the soil humidity of your plant all the time? Display it conditionally when it gets too low and requires watering! Same for most server stats. "Updates available: none" is useless info.
It's literally the opposite of home automation. Remove the noise from your life, don't add more :)
WLED konfiguriert.

Thanks Steffan Pankratz for doing all the work for this update.
New release to deal with my not getting the version…
GitHubAcabei de colocar para rodar meu servidor do home assistant! Entrei nesse mundo
Alguma dica?
Home Assistant
Hey my #HomeAssistant peeps - we're looking for a locally-controlled smart *plug*: suggestions?
Constraints: Our HA Yellow is configured for ZigBee, not Threads, so it needs to either be WiFi or ZigBee. Happy to set up and use Matter. Would ideally like to be able to set up and manage the plug without going through the manufacturer's cloud or Google Home.
If there's an obvious Threads-compatible winner I'm willing to swap out our one ZigBee light switch to a Threads one.
@carnage4life My central heating is controlled by a local-only temperature sensor, a local-only smart relay, some local-only TRVs, and #HomeAssistant . I don't *think* anyone can shut it down.
BTW the decades old electromechanical thermostat that this gear bypasses is still made.
How is the #Tailscale addon for #HomeAssistant supposed to work with a self-hosted #Headscale?
There is a configuration option for the login server, but no way to specify the auth key
For tomorrow I will have to implement a new rule in my #homeassistant. Electricity price becomes so negative that it will even compensate transport and taxes, so instead of just throttling the solar inverter I need to switch it off and then use as much electricity as possible.
@FloatingOnion You can spy on all sorts of things. Just as some examples, if we're away from home we can tell if any children have turned up unannounced to use the house as a hotel, we can tell when they wake up in the morning (the power spike from the kettle), we can tell when people go to the loo in the middle of the night (the PIR for the lighting), we can tell when doors get left open (from the behaviour of the central heating system) and we can tell when the neighbour waters the plants in the greenhouse.
We don't log people's locations from their smart phones.
(OK so the humidity sensor in the greenhouse isn't fed through #HomeAssistant, it's a separate Raspberry Pi setup that I built as a lockdown project. But the data ends up in my web server's database so I can see it from anywhere in the world.)
@TimWardCam I’m definitely conscious of the amount of data that gets logged at home and am very careful about some of it, particularly location data feeding into #homeassistant and longer term retention.
Wife got a bit freaked out that she should could figure out when I left the house and got an alarm arming notification.
One of the really great things about HomeKit, from Apple, is that it is a commercially supported way to do local control of devices across your LAN. I have devices that are commercial (VELUX skylight open/close device). I join it to my network, activate HomeKit on it, activate HomeKit on my HomeAssistant system, and now the #HomeAssistant can control it. No internet nor Apple devices, nor Apple services are required.
I proved this point last labor day by putting a shovel through the fiber optic that runs to my house. I could still control my devices, even without internet!
They can’t take that away from me. (Have to make sure things don’t automatically update their firmware, or else they CAN take that away from me)

Some time back I asked "where's the cop show in which the smart home logs provide useful evidence?"
Turns out it's an episode of Annika where the smart fridge says what bottle was removed from it at what time, and they knew whose favourite drink that was.
