My Xmas book haul.

Already started re-reading Foundation. I loved it when I read it in college. I do remember that it’s mostly men talking about politics, philosophy, and psychology. Which is absolutely true. So I understand why the TV series made changes to adapt it.

I absolutely love both versions. The book definitely needed more women though.

I’d like to read Marco Polo, but I’d really love an unabridged and annotated version. But are there any that aren’t over a hundred years old? I can find one from 1903, but I feel like scholarship has likely established a little more information since then.

But perhaps it’s not interesting enough for modern readers.

Anyone have a particular edition they recommend?

La terza puntata della serie #Shogun mi è sembrata un po' #slabbrata: mentre la prima parte è stata accettabile, in tutta la seconda in cui si trasferiscono nella battaglia/fuga navale, davvero ho rivisto la serie ripiombare ad un livello di scrittura e messa in scena a dir poco piatto (e a tratti pure ridicolo), come purtroppo avevo visto nel 1° epis.

Il protagonista "occidentale" sembra ormai una specie di #marcopolo inglese, ed è stato scritto pensandolo in situazioni a dir poco improbabili
