Reading about Martin Niemöller, the guy who originated that "First they came for..." poem.

German, Lutheran pastor, an active supporter of Hitler in the early '30s, gradually came to realize what he was supporting and changed his views, and got thrown in a concentration camp for the last 7 years for opposing the Nazis.

Gave variations of that "First they came for..." speech many times. It wasn't a poem then, just his apology-sermon.

Read up about the history and origin of that poem. There is a lot of background and context to it, more than I can sum up in a toot.

WOW! I did NOT know that Martin Niemoller supported the rise of the Nazis and was an anti-semite. This really does change everything about how his famous poem should be interpreted.

Jim Stewartson reminds us of the witness of German pastor Martin Niemöller, whose famous poem about those who refused to stand up to the Nazis and speak out against their inhumanity is now a classic.

As Stewartson notes, Niemöller supported the Nazis and welcomed Hitler as a strong, manly savior figure appointed by God, until Hitler began to try to take over the German Protestant church. Then Niemöller spoke out and was sent to Dachau.

SUMMARY
Good point here and shows how people miss the point for sticking up for others or having opinions. Even if you can't give birth to children or you are beyond the age, it doesn't mean you can't reason for yourself and others.
