2025_1_20 environmental allergies triggered (MCAS)

MCAS, or mast cell activation syndrome, is a common post-viral illness which can give severe, dangerous allergic reactions even to people who had no allergies previously, like me.

A few days ago I tried to clean out my old apartment, which we’d removed the air purifiers from, and immediately broke out in rashes and hives. I was mentally struggling and afraid. When I remembered I had a KN95 mask in the car, it helped a lot, but MCAS is a deeply terrifying and hard to understand condition.

I've been saying for ages I should get down to it and write my own low-histamine recipe book. I love cooking (& eating), it's the one activity I've built back into my life since learning to pace energy better. I started today by simply recording today's recipe in my own recipe book, for later use if I ever make this thing happen. Any interest in using my recipes and I'll at least start a thread of meal ideas for now.

I still can't get over how this list of symptoms compared to those that have #EhlersDanlos (many symptoms are symptoms of another condition that is a symptom of #EDS such as #MastCell issues, #POTS, etc)
