@trankten @rober @paquita @ElenaMusk El artículo es precisamente del creador de #mastinator un ingeniero de software con 15 años de experiencia que se asomó al fdiverso para encontrarse con las cuestiones que ahí relata y donde deja al descubierto una serie de carencias que habría que repensar desde esta parte.

After some thought, reading around other's thoughts, etc. I've decided to block #mastinator

My main reason is that it violates users' expectation of post visibility, specifically around where your posts are visible (mastodon.radio) and if you post "followers only"

For the first, this service allows anyone to see your posts on a service you don't have control over, and maybe even knowledge of.

If you post followers only, I'd suggest also approving all followers.

Nuestro primer #FediBlock va a ser para #mastinator. Se trata de un servicio que permite acceder anónimamente al fediverso, seguir cuentas y replicar toots, de tal manera que quedan disponibles para todo el público. Esto incluye los toots borrados, y los toots sólo para seguidores. El servicio no se limita a mirar tu actividad pública, también te sigue y obtiene tus publicaciones más restringidas.

@ElenaMusk Como ya he expresado en otro lado, creo que el problema no es de #mastinator si no de una vulnerabilidad bien de mastodon bien de ActivityPub que permite que se salte los niveles de protección en la difusión del contenido. Por tanto bloquear el dominio es sólo un parche temporal: si otras instancias similares empiezan a operar, el problema seguirá....

@mguhlin @edutooter @edutooters Why? You know that everything you write on Mastodon is public, don’t you? Blocking a single server isn’t going to change that.

When you need privacy, use #Signal. When you post on Mastodon, be aware that potentially everyone now and in the future can read it. Let those #Mastinator guys have their fun, they’re probably acting in good faith.

@Borrible Siehe den Link von @nick . Ich hatte kurz unter dem Hashtag #mastinator in anderen Sprachen nachgelesen, nachdem mir der #everyone-Account gefolgt war. Scheint ein weltweites Phänomen zu sein, das gerade auch nach Deutschland schwappt.

Das ist sehr merkwürdig und irgendwie unheimlich. Können Accounts noch etwas anderes tun als Blockieren, um solche Aktionen zu verhindern?

Don't want to have a mole bot in your followers, scraping your followers-only posts? Don't accept follow request w/o vetting them first!

Fck this, can somebody shoot down #Mastinator dot com? #FediBlock

Advice: Check if you got a follow by everyone@mastinator.com or another account with this ending recently. #Mastinator is a website that allows people to follow you who have no fediverse account. I suppose or rather hope blocking this account and the instance keeps that thing from copying your non-private posts.

(I don't know how exactly that scraping works on the technical side, but considering how the FediBlock tag is full with that, assume that mastinator crap works.)
