After 1 week with the new keyboard at home, my view still stands. The new one is a lovely keyboard, and it really feels great to type on. However, it can not compete with my Moonlander when it comes to flexibility and configurability. The Moonlander is the best keyboard I have ever used. Expensive, but great. The Moonlander also has just enough keys for those of us that use a non-english typeset on a regular basis.
Also, as a side-note, and as a touch typer, I have gotten really used to the Moonlander being columnar instead of using a traditional layout. The “traditional” layout made sense back in the days of mechanical typewriters, where the typeset arms weren’t supposed to be able to tangle themselves up if you typed “too fast”. The traditional layout really doesn’t make much sense these days, on computers.
Bought a new keyboard for home as I plan to use my beloved Moonlander at work instead. Went for a QMK Keychron keyboard which is lovely in itself, but trying things out I am now holding a completely new appreciation for ZSA’s firmware configurator, which is what I use to configure the Moonlander. It is MILES ahead of the QMK/VIA configurator. I had no idea.
I thought the ZSA configurator, being based on QMK, would be similar to what I could expect for any QMK keyboard. I was wrong.
It is like comparing the latest set of flight controls with a bicycle.

Martin UedingAnyone got the #ZSA #Moonlander platform?
It's not a looker, but it's really sturdy and easy to adjust.
However, for a neutral, relaxed angle in my arms, I need to move the desk down so far that the desktop touches my legs; couldn't sit there on a normal chair anymore.
I don't recall having unusually long upper arms like an ape, so how do y'all manage?

#zsa #moonlander friends, do you have recommendations for 3D models to print more aggressive tenting supports?
Maybe also one so that the thumb cluster can be pointed upward (for smaller woman's hands) while maintaining an aggressive tent?
On my Moonlander, I have Cherry MX Brown switches. I think it was default. It takes a fair amount of force to press each key. I’ve never lubed the switches; I don't know how much of a difference that makes (if any).
But now I'd like to buy new switches. I don't want to be the annoying guy, so no loud, clicky switches. Currently thinking
1. Kailh Silver
2. Kailh Box Red
3. Kailh Copper
4. Kailh Box Brown
5. Cherry MX Silent Red
Which of these have you used and like?
I have a #Keychron K2 Pro which I use sometime for gaming (I am usually using my #zsa #moonlander)
I tried to use via on #linux but i kept getting a permission denied on /dev/hidraw6
I added a udev rules

I had already my user in the Group wheel and after reloading my udev rules I could now access https://launcher.keychron.com/ or https://usevia.app/ from the #brave browser and all works nicely.

just pulled the trigger on a #ZSA Voyager keyboard—so it’s time to sell my spare #Moonlander (with ZSA’s impressive metal tenting kit). i can’t recommend this keyboard highly enough. before hitting reddit to sell it i’d be happy to pass it on to a mech-kb-curious member of the local crew.
I did an interview with the ZSA (mechanical+programmable keyboard folks) in June, and it was just released yesterday!
It's a bit about game dev but mostly about keyboards. Makes me feel a little shy watching it, but i'm recently trying to flip that emotion into sharing more. Gotta put myself out there!

It has been around a year since I changed both #keyboardLayout to #Dvorak and converted to a #splitKeyboard from a conventional #qwerty full size.
From time to time, I took some #MonkeyType #tests, to see the progress in my #typing speeds and accuracy. I thought that sharing my stats might help someone which is wondering if they should take a similar road
For reference, I was before typing at a speed around 100-120 wpm, but my wrist was hurting so much that I was fearing I couldn't longer type in the long run... so it is a win for me, even if now I'm (for the moment) slower Unfortunately, I started using MonkeyType with an account only after I changed the keyboard, and didn't think of taking a screenshot before... I regret it so much, so if you are doing something similar, please take at least a screen of your previous data
but having a fresh account gives a bit of dopamine when it shoots confetti to notify you of an improvement
It's more like wanting to improve, and less about trying to compete with your older self.
#Keyboard is a #ZSA #Moonlander in Dvorak layout, tilted and rotated to the outside instead of the usual inside (i find it more comfortable and natural) and with the halves widely spaced.
I use the computer e.day, for most of the day doing video-editing, 3D, moderation, some coding, a lot of chatting, study... needless to say, I have exercised every day for the past year
And yes, I can still use a qwerty keyboard (maybe because of the shock therapy change), but don't like typing on it!
I would love to hear your story too!!

didn’t love the #moonlander’s S key giving out in midsentece this morning at the coffeehouse—but it took to 30 seconds to swap out the keyswitch and all’s well. serviceable mechanical kb design for the win! (that’s one of the places the outlandish cost of ZSA #keyboards goes.)
Sometimes I forget how ridiculous my portable work setup must look like to people thanks to my #moonlander and #roost #ergokeyboards
A few weeks ago, my laptop got stolen, which was horrible but somehow that my #ZSA #moonlander got stolen with it bothered me even more. Turns out that I built up way too much muscle memory on the moonlander that made typing on a regular keyboard just painful.
Oh and the lack of split was painful as well...
But the replacement is back now, and after loading up my layout, my fingers and back are much happier again.

Scientific EuropeanWhen your daily-use ergonomic columnar mechanical keyboard breaks and you're without one for a few days and realize it'd take weeks to get a new one (or custom replacement parts)...
I love my Moonlander (which I thankfully fixed... whew ), but I imagine going without an ergo keyboard at all for a few weeks sounds painfully difficult.
In other words, I might've just ordered a Voyager, possibly as a new main, or at least a backup.
