@zrzz yeah that's the thing: keyboard control should provide keyboard control it's Ashby's law of requisite variety!
#pinafore is the same, only I can leave the cursor where the NextPage button will be and click with my thumb, unless I'd bumped it.
It's just annoying and these days A LOT of new apps do this, strand essential common function to Carpal Tunnel Land.
Why is this? Do I blame Vue or React? Is it now really so hard to do? I'm just curious because it's ubiquitous
#mastodonel 2.0.0 has features you would find in any #Mastodon client and a few nifty things like Recommendeds, but I can't find the key that used to open READ MORE links to expand content (#Pinafore lacks this too, but for paging down) I thought it was 'x' but apparently not.
#Pinafore is the only webclient working on my Firefox/Ubuntu; official app loses focus and number keys won't restore it & why show Toot textarea all the time? (any keystroke not bound selects it). Sadly it doesn't Edit.
Revisiting #Pinafore for the linux desktop and so far so good, but… is there no hotkey for the 'More' button at the *bottom* of a list? '.' only goes to the top, but if I'm catching up after an absence, I would refresh with . and then scroll *down* (infinite scroll turned off) until I hit a mouse-only wall.
Just got @kitsune working on a small scale #hetzner VPS and things are running very smoothly. Posting via #pinafore works but I didn't play around with #forgejo or any other #OIDC providers yet. I got it #docker|ized and want to try to automate deployment with #terraform and #helm if I find the time next week.
Kudos to the contributors, I'm excited to see where the project heads in the near future!
These settings are partly based on guidelines from the Center for Humane Technology").
I love it.
Pinafore.social
@rwa Yeah, I'm really just looking at one for me, so with #GoToSocial adding editing in the next version, I think this is the way I'm leaning, although I'll have to figure out a web frontend, too.
I think I may be one of the only people who doesn't love #Phanpy. To be clear, I don't hate it. It's just a bit cluttered for my tastes.
What other frontends are people using? It sounds like #Pinafore development has been discontinued? Maybe #Elk?
Does anyone know if there's an actively maintained fork of the @pinafore / @semaphore fediverse web app?
Have to use #pinafore in order to be able to use Mastodon at such slow WiFi of my father's...
So, after I posted yesterday, around 7:38-8:00 the whole electricity went out....we were at our friends house...
Now we're safely back at our house, our friends arleady got power back at their house, but at our house the power is still out...
So, that's how #Florida works...
Du meinst eine alternative Weboberfläche?
Da gibt es mehrere, Beispiele:
#Elk

#Phanpy

mastodonium.deRozumiem.

So I've spent some time playing around with different #Mastodon webclients. Out of #ElkZone, #Litterbox, #Pinafore, #Phanpy, #Trunks, #Mastodeck and #Brutaldon I've found Elk and Pinafore to be my favorites (single column, clean look and sufficiently large text).
Was wondering if anyone know of any other great web clients though as always looking for new ones (especially self-hostable).
Love the plethora of clients available in the Fediverse!
I've made a UserStyle that mimics the Threads desktop UI for Mastodon Pinafore
You can install it with the Stylus browser extension here:

Anybody else having issues with @pinafore not working properly? For the past couple days I regularly end up with empty pages or just the spinning loading symbol. #pinafore
As Pinafore is no longer being developed, I'm also open to recommendations for an alternative for a desktop web client (currently trying @sengi_app and @elk )
Bold move of the day: Switched from #Pinafore to #Semaphore
@jsit @kissane agreed, the default Mastodon interface is not great in terms of UX (personally like it more than Akkoma) but that being said, there are 3rd party interfaces like #Elk & #Pinafore that can make the experience better for many.
Then there are also other #ActivityPub implementation that do a better job with more features than Mastodon like #Akkoma & #irefish, the latter has a much better UI out of the box.
