You have to love the fall season as it is not only stunning with the vibrant foliage colors but is also time for foraging for mushrooms. It was quite a thrill to spot these Giant Puffballs, in Guelph Ontario Canada, as you can't always find them in the forest. They are edible and taste terrific when sliced and fried in butter, yum!

#Puffballs. Spotted these three today rising out of the leaf litter like tiny sizewell reactors. Think they are pigskin puffballs but I’m no expert. In the second photo I like how the stump is becoming overwhelmed by fungi; a nice, healthy image of decomposition. #fungi #sporespondence.
For #FungiFriday I present these #PuffBalls growing on a log in the forest near the Skyland Lodge in Shenandoah #NationalPark. There is a little moss as well, so it might be a #Mosstodon pic too.
For #FungiFriday have a looksie at the time a few weeks ago when I found a bunch of Onion Earthball (#Scleroderma cepa) #mushrooms! Here's one I was documenting for #iNaturalist that *spontaneously* exploded ashy black spores all over my arm and chest (not in the face, thankfully).
