The Pine Phone Pro arrived earlier this week. After a few unfocused, false starts I finally got it booting into Gnome and currently installing Waydroid over ssh.

My wife uses a cheesey coupon clipping app (iOS/Android) for doing the groceries and such. I'll need to take a look at what traffic flows in-n-out of this app to see what is being farmed and segregate/container off if required.

We are heavy Signal users but I may use this as an excuse to set up a XMPP server. Twas on the 'roadmap'.

Initial impressions are good. Definitely not as shiny and smooth as an iOS or Android device but - it's a phone. We spent half our lives with dumb rotary dialing doohickeys - we'll survive. lol

Pretty impressed with Gnome on a touch device so far. This is my first real experience with it. No 'klunkiness' so far but just scratching the surface.

It will be interesting to see how a non-technical person takes to it. I'm going to monkey with it myself for the first week or so to find the hard edges to save her the frustration.

I want to experiment with Android Auto - see what (if anything) is possible.

I also obtained a Seeed Studio Sensecap T1000-E (meshtastic, lora, etc.) to connect to this device. We'll see how far I get with that.

I really need a staff... Ha!

Rapidly moving my meshtastic nodes over to meshcore

Going very smoothly so far. Meshcore is notably very fast at message delivery and delivery confirmations back to the sender.

Thinking I'll leave my primary meshtastic infrastructure nodes up and build meshcore nodes to deploy next to them so as the network matures I can do head to head comparisons.

My initial goal for the cost of the hardware for a #RaspberryPi based home #Nightscout deployment, including the board, case, storage, and power, was to keep it under $100. With taxes, I think I can get a minimum of about $65 plus shipping. You can go with upgraded hardware and still keep it under $100.

Another observation is, man, Raspberry Pi 4 is expensive on Amazon. Don’t buy them there. Go to #Adafruit or #SeeedStudio.

A few new toys.... #SeeedStudio #Grove Speaker plus, Infrared Temperature Sensor Array (AMG8833), and High Precision Barometer Sensor (DPS310)

I don't have any big plans for any of this. The DPS310 seems to give really good tempatures, thou I did do an average which helped to stabilize it a bit better.

The IR sensor array is interesting, and something I feel like I need to play around with a bit more.

Maybe, I've got too many #AirQuality sensors. #seeedstudio HM3301 vs. PMS5003. Both sensors working perfect, but the developers have to do their homeworks. The #arduino libraries needs to be updated. My @arduino UNO R4 WiFi wants to fly through the IoT. #anerrormessageappear

Woot! Woot! The #SeeedStudio #LoRaGrove board works with the #M5Stack #CardComputer with a small change to the #RadioHead #Arduino #Library it can send and receive using the client / server example sketch. Now I just need to make a sketch that will display the information received on the screen. And hopefully be able to use the keyboard as a type of two way #LoRa communicator
Hopefully I can get it done tonight and test it a little while I'm out tomorrow.

This project is based on the #seeedstudio #XIAO board and the #NRF #NRF52840 MCU. This board is well suited for this project since it’s cheap, small, and allows very low power consumption, which is perfect for a battery operated device!
